Guest Varyag Posted January 25, 2011 Report Posted January 25, 2011 Hi all , can i make the acer liquid CPU 1GH ?? yes, you can.
Guest koudelka Posted January 25, 2011 Report Posted January 25, 2011 How?? tell me please . What rom are you running?
Guest TroublEMakeR Posted January 25, 2011 Report Posted January 25, 2011 4.002.14.EMEA.GEN1_A22F_A (For Liquid 256MB)
Guest thedicemaster Posted January 25, 2011 Report Posted January 25, 2011 it's only possible with a few acer liquids with a very good cpu(every cpu is of slightly different quality) and you need to use a custom kernel with overclocking built-in, which so far have all had some other issues with parts not working 100%
Guest Delnar_Ersike Posted January 25, 2011 Report Posted January 25, 2011 To run an overclocked device, you need to be running a ROM with a boot.img where the overclocked frequencies are enabled in the kernel. Since Acer has yet to release the source code for its kernel, all overclocked boot.img's are community-made, and therefore all of them have drawbacks. Some don't have working bluetooth, others don't have working WiFi tethering, many of them have worse battery life than stock even when running the default frequencies, and I know of one where the main drawback is the headset not working. Look around and see which one suits you; that is to say, which ones' drawbacks you can live with in order to get your speed boost. Also keep in mind that if you have a Liquid A1, having a swap-enabled kernel and using a swap file on your SD will greatly improve performance as well in my experiences (tested it with benchmarks and a couple games that chugged when swap was disabled, and I noticed improvements in every single case), so you should also check whether swap is enabled on certain kernels. Also note that some kernels have noxwell's multitouch fix built in (helps with axis inversion), while you might experience weird market errors when using others (specifically, I've had bad experiences with installing/updating Google apps on any CM-based kernel so far). You will also need to root your device and install a piece of software that will unlock the enabled frequencies. A popular choice is SetCPU (you can pay for it in the market or get it for free from the XDA forums), but there are others as well. Finally, as said before, you'll need to be lucky. Most Liquids aren't stable at 1GHz, simply because the processors in them are usually Snapdragons that failed the necessary stability tests when clocked at 1GHz, but were stable when clocked at 768Mhz. Most Liquids are only stable to about 920-960Mhz, some aren't even stable at those frequencies (they can only be brought up to ~883Mhz), while the lucky ones (~20% of Liquid A1's) are stable at 1Ghz and beyond. You'll just have to try them out yourself to see where your device is still stable.
Guest carol1210 Posted January 25, 2011 Report Posted January 25, 2011  then I'm the lucky one!!! My liquid can run stably @ 1036mhz with Roggin's CM 6.1 and 998hMz with MIUI, but my fd's just crushes (reboot or FC) immediately with the same speed and OS...

Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee Also stable at 1036mhz running roggins cm 7 ^ ^
Guest DiluTe Posted January 27, 2011 Report Posted January 27, 2011 How are you guys testing if it's still stable? By running Quadrant? Or will it reboot if it ain't stable?
Guest HustlinDaily Posted January 27, 2011 Report Posted January 27, 2011 Yeah potential concequences: -Bootloop (not even booting, forcing you to manually go back into recovery and restore a Nandroid, very important to have one) -Random Roobots -Freezes
Guest DiluTe Posted January 27, 2011 Report Posted January 27, 2011 Well I'm running 998MHz now, no problem yet, I'm running Roggins CM6.1 ROM

You can check it once you've found your stable clock.
Guest fischschneehase Posted January 27, 2011 Report Posted January 27, 2011 for miui and cm i can recommend no frill it realy oc's my liquid more stable than setcpu
