Guest Jhaeh Posted January 25, 2011 Report Posted January 25, 2011 My son has had his San Francisco since Christmas. Last week the screen got smashed (don't ask!). He's absolutely gutted, he'd just got all the 3 stars on Angry Birds and has lost his Kindle books and countless other things stored on the phone. Even though the screen is smashed, it still powers on and you can see the screen, just not actually use it as touches do not respond. Is there anyway to do a back-up to PC of his apps/data/etc so I can transfer it to another San Francisco when I get around to replacing it? It was rooted, running Hungarian Hedgehog if that makes any difference to anything. Any help would make a very unhappy little boy smile.

Guest Jhaeh Posted January 25, 2011 Report Posted January 25, 2011 Would help if you dont typo names etc. http://android.podtwo.com/romdump/ You're a star, thank you. Just looking through that, it seems I may still struggle as the phone's touch screen does not work at all and I will be unable to unlock the screen to turn wi-fi on and off or check that de-buggging is enabled. Hmmm.

Guest kallt_kaffe Posted January 25, 2011 Report Posted January 25, 2011 (edited) My suggestion is to get another OSF/Blade (if you have not done so allready). Install the same Clockwork or RA recovery version on both phones. My favourite recovery ROM is this one: http://android.modaco.com/content/zte-blad...overy-oled-tft/ but any version should work, just make sure you use the same version one both phones to be certain that the backup you make on the broken one can be restored on the new phone. Using the non-broken phone as a guide you can navigate through the Clockwork/RA menus and do a full backup of the phone. Then switch SD-cards between the phones and restore the backup on the new phone. When everything is up and running and confirmed working on the new phone, backup Angry Birds with Titanium backup (just in case). That's the only app I backup and I reflash my phone _alot_. Sebastians romdump dumps the ROM for recovery purposes. It does not, unless I'm mistaken, backup the user data. Edited January 25, 2011 by kallt_kaffe

It may be a couple of weeks before he gets the replacement so I may be back to whine for more assistance but until then, thanks for everyone's help.

Guest kallt_kaffe Posted January 25, 2011 Report Posted January 25, 2011 in recovery mode it's 5 times volume down home key home key I depends on what version you use. Clockwork and RA is not the same and also much in the menus has been altered in the latest RA version (to the better).
