Guest MadeInBeats Posted January 25, 2011 Report Posted January 25, 2011 Been looking around but can't find the answer. I've just flashed Jellyfish R9 and noticed the Overclocking Mod, and the Hardware Accell Mod, but there doesn't seem to be any documentation for them. Is it safe to use these, either or? Will they put stress on the phone and shorten its life and drain the battery a lot quicker? Also wondering if there are options to switch these options on and off once installed? What's the difference between the overclock mod and the hardware accell mod? Gratze

Gratze  No. It will make your phone explode and cause the death of a thousand kittens. on a serious note, all info is in the ROM thread. i know its a huge thread but thats why you have the search topic function. besides that, there are a few dedicated threads about overclocking, there also is a dedicated thread that deals with HW ui and stagefright and what not. they have all been explained thoroughly before. http://android.modaco.com/index.php?act=Search&f=488
Guest MadeInBeats Posted January 25, 2011 Report Posted January 25, 2011 That's the thing mate. This is not meant to sound ungreatful in anyway to the people who run the site or the community at all, but trying to find stuff even with the search function can be sometimes almost impossible. The Jellyfish thread is over 150 pages -- that's a lot of info to read though! The XDA foums has a handy feature at the top of threads called Search Thread, you mentioned a search topic function? Where can I find this?
Guest skymera Posted January 25, 2011 Report Posted January 25, 2011 I've overclocked all my Android phones for over a year. No ill effects. Currently I'm using Jellyfish RLS9 @ 691MHz. It can do 729MHz or so but it can end up freezing. 691 is the sweet spot. Is 691 better than 600? Probably not in real scenarios, however it's a bigger number, therefore i prefer it. Can it do damage? Theoretically yes, overclocking can... But doubtful on the Blade. Battery life? I've got good battery life with my Blade even overclocked. I use SetCPU, 320-691 ondemand when awake and 245-245 when screen off.

Guest MadeInBeats Posted January 25, 2011 Report Posted January 25, 2011 Thank you Skymera and Pully, very helpful info and tips. I also found this post which goes someway to answering my questions so hope it may help others too!! I might leave this over clocking for a few week until I feel confident I know more about it... This is my first android phone and only had it a few days. I'm off to rinse the Search Topic button  Thanks again...
Guest Pully Posted January 25, 2011 Report Posted January 25, 2011 I would recommend the HW acceleration as it doesnt overclock the cpu in anyway. It makes games like Speedx 3D run smoothly - at least on my device
Guest Phoenix Silver Posted January 25, 2011 Report Posted January 25, 2011 (edited) to be more safe install a widget which display the battery temp  EDIT : forget it it's standard in Setcpu widget Edited January 26, 2011 by Phoenix Silver
Guest MadeInBeats Posted January 25, 2011 Report Posted January 25, 2011 Thanks all, the Search Topic function has made my life much easier !!!
