Guest feeta Posted January 25, 2011 Report Posted January 25, 2011 Hi Guys, I'm just on the brink of wanting to buy a Vega. The only thing that's stopping me is that I use Microsoft OneNote on a daily basis. Other than the web browser, it's my next most used program, with my entire digital life stored on it. I know there's no official Android app for Onenote yet, but the iPhone app is out so hopefully it won't be too long before an Android app is out. For the meantime though, can anyone tell me how the onenote web app works on the Vega? I was in two minds about getting a Win 7 tablet or an android, but my experiences with my current Samsung Q1 Ultra Win 7 tablet (slow and the screen is too small!) makes me want to move to android. I'm using a Samsung Galaxy S as my main device and have found it brilliant. Any advice? Cheers, Feeta
Guest trevor432990 Posted January 25, 2011 Report Posted January 25, 2011 (edited) Looks like the app MobileNoter might help you make up your mind perhaps? Edited January 25, 2011 by trevor432990
Guest feeta Posted January 25, 2011 Report Posted January 25, 2011 Looks like the app MobileNoter might help you make up your mind perhaps? Thanks for the info Trevor. I already use the beta version of Mobile Noter. The only problem is that currently, you can only read your notebooks and it has no cloud sync. For the minute, the web app seems to be the only way to go with onenote. On my Galaxy S I can't use the web app. Instead of opening the onenote file to view online (like it does on a desktop) it just downloads the onenote file (which is obviously of no use as the device doesnt have the software on) I was hoping the browser worked differently on the Vega and would work the same as a desktop (it works in Chrome, Firefox and IE) Cheers
Guest trevor432990 Posted January 25, 2011 Report Posted January 25, 2011 The Vega browser or add-ons should be able to open the web content alright but as I don't use OneNote myself I couldn't say for sure. If no-one else on this forum responds you might have to nip into Dixons/PC World and try to get online yourself ... if they have any in stock of course. Good luck
Guest wi-fli Posted January 25, 2011 Report Posted January 25, 2011 I just tried accessing OneNote, via the Office Live web portal thing, in Dolphin HD browser on my Vega. And it just caused the browser to lock up completely, which is the first time I've ever had that problem. So no, I don't think it works.....
Guest dazzawright Posted January 26, 2011 Report Posted January 26, 2011 Have you tried springpad? Www.springpadit.com I also wanted a one note replacement and found this to be the best. Evernote is a close second.
Guest feeta Posted January 26, 2011 Report Posted January 26, 2011 Yeah, I tried Springpad and didn't get on with it so much. Some of the basic things I use onenote for didn't work in Springpad. However, after some reading last night, it seems you can force the browser to work in "desktop mode" and that allows the web app to work. That should be sufficient for me until an android version comes along. So, this morning, an order for a nice new Vega, case and screen protector went in
Guest wi-fli Posted January 26, 2011 Report Posted January 26, 2011 Well, I certainly don't want to put you off a Vega, but I've now tried it with the stock browser, dolphin hd, miren and opera. I've also tried every user agent setting including desktop, and I cannot get onenote to let me edit notes, only view them. Bummer really, as it's magic on a Win7desktop PC.
