Tasker and Wifi-near

Yes, I am aware of general wifi issues on the Blade, they haven't bothered me. My wifi seems stays on when the screen goes off etc.

My problem is that profiles using "wifi near" contexts don't activate on the blade. The exact same profile works fine on my G1. I can connect to the network in question, Tasker even shows it as an available option to choose when setting up a new wifi context, with correct MAC etc. I can see the wifi switch on and off as Tasker toggles the wifi to check for wifi near, it just doesn't perform the task associated.

I'm using Japanese Jelly 7, and as I said the exact same profile works perfectly on another android device running 2.2 and the same version of Tasker. Anyone had similar problems? Is the issue likely to be device, ROM or app caused?

Are you sure? AFAIK there is no fix for this issue, just workarounds (wake lock or blade wifi fix).

I don't have tasker, but I presume "wifi near" will just scan for APs and do something if it sees your home AP. Unless tasker grabs a wake lock first, this won't work on the blade if the screen is off.

I could not get Tasker WiFi near to work on the blade either. I can't remember which Rom I was on at the time though.

Works For Me at work. I seem to have the disconnecting wifi problem , so it's not that. I have wiki policy as never sleep though.

I'm not sure I don't have some kind of WiFi glitch, but I know if I do I'm not bothered by it. What I'm talking about is when the screen is on. Tasker can identify the AP when WiFi us switched on manually, indeed actually if I do that then the profile with WiFi near shows as active. I guess then the specific issue is that when Tasker toggles the WiFi to check, it seems to miss it every time. I have tried increasing the timeout from ten seconds to thirty, no change.

It seems very much like a Tasker bug, but like I said it is specific to this device/ rom. Anyone can try this on another blade rom?

I have the same behaviour, running FLB-Froyo R6 and Tasker.

I set up a Tasker profile that's supposed to connect to my home Wifi based on cell tower location. Wifi turned on and then shortly afterwards off again. I "fixed" this by removing my network SSID from Tasker, so now it just scans for any networks, and then apparently connects to the one it knows. Works.
