Hey guys. i've been trying all day to get over this but it seems i havent had any success.

I have an O2 locked dell streak. it was updated 3 months ago to 2.2 froyo v1.1 by dj_steve. my baseband ends in EU. i installed the fix for 2.2 today which apparently improved speed and eliminated a few bugs. i wanted the 1.4.6 though.

While browsing stuff today i saw that the official release is on the internet. i read steve's 1.4.6 is a lot faster than the official update so i went through with it (according to this page ---http://www.streaksmart.com/2010/12/streakdroid-146-custom-rom-for-dell-streak-can-be-flashed-over-official-froyo-update.html"):

i downloaded the 1.4.6 zip file and flashed it through clockworkmode 2.5. the upgrade was succesful (at least the operation in itself, the phone was superfast), but i noticed i did not have any signal. i went and flashed previous version back on to figure things out. i did not upgrade my baseband in advance unfortunately.

i went on -->http://www.streaksmart.com/2010/11/how-to-get-official-android-22-update-on-dell-streak.html --- to get the amss.mbn and the rest of the files which were on dj steve's pack. the link is broken as it redirects you to an imbecile site. the link is in all the threads. i havent found any way of getting hold of these 3 files anywhere else.

i finally only got ahold of amss.mbn and image.img, unfortunately did not find system.img anywhere.

i installed sdk on computer (windows 7), put fastboot.exe along with the other 3 files in the same folder, as instructed. when typing in exactly as instructed i get an error "adpwinapi.dll is missing". this dll has made my life very hard. it isnt in either the installer sdk file or the zip sdk file. ive tried finding it on the internet but i keep following dead ends. if that's not enough, after putting the phone in fastboot mode it doesnt even connect. ive tried it too many times.

so i switched to my mac laptop. installed sdk, fastboot everything. put files in same folder, start terminal and type the commands slightly differently. i get "cannot load amss.mbn". i need to mention that the phone connects everytime to the mac in fastboot mode. no issues here. ive tried 3 amss.mbn files so far. either from different mirrors either extracted from pkg files.

ive read through countless threads, there are so many it's just very very confusing. i've got 25 tabs open at the moment.

HELP!

how do i update my baseband and what's the correct order of doing things?

should i downgrade to 1.6 and start over? it's such a lengthy process.

any help would really be appreaciated. cheers guys

Drag and drop the amss.mbm file from the tools folder into the cmd prompt.

Follow the instructions here.

http://android.modaco.com/content/dell-str...d-release-post/

You'll find all the files you need. Don't need anything except the amss.mbn and the update1.6.1.zip files. But you would need to be on either ClockWorkMod or the StreakMod recovery. I'd recommend StreakMod.

dont i need to go into fastboot mode and type in command prompt and terminal "fastboot.exe -i ....etc" to upgrade baseband?

on mac it sais cannot load amss.mbn and on windows it cannot find a certain dll.

how am i supposed to upgrade the baseband?

There's a thread on XDA in the Streak Android Development section with a PDF and everything on how to get fastboot working properly. Yes, you will need fastboot to flash the baseband.

Drag and drop the amss.mbm file from the tools folder into the cmd prompt.

this gives me the "windows cannot open this file" error. select from a list or use the web. it does not execute it

Just copy and paste it. Don't double.click or try to open it.

hi,

This sounds like a problem with the USB driver on your machine. Does the PC recognise the device after you've selected Fastboot (top right of the screen - press power and camera buttons together at start up). The screen should then change to "waiting for USB .....", if it doesn't change when you connect the usb cable then the driver on your machine isn't working.

The first starting point is http://www.addictivetips.com/mobile/what-i...all-it-android/. This tells you about the SDK pack and the USB driver install.

Hope this helps.

Thanks,

Anthony.

ps not sure if this will help for the MAC, sorry.
