Guest HunteronX Posted January 26, 2011 Report Posted January 26, 2011 (edited) Google has posted a list of Android 3.0 features. Check it out: - Android 3.0 Preview Highlights Can't wait to get this on the Vega! Wow - this looks great, and has useful new features as well! The emulator runs slow though, so I'm waiting for a proper preview, with a working test device. Also, it seems like Honeycomb isn't just for tablets, like I thought... "Compatibility with existing apps Android 3.0 brings a new UI designed for tablets and other larger screen devices, but it also is fully compatible with applications developed for earlier versions of the platform, or for smaller screen sizes. Existing applications can seamlessly participate in the new holographic UI theme without code changes, by adding a single attribute in their manifest files. The platform emulates the Menu key, which is replaced by the overflow menu in the Action Bar in the new UI. Developers wanting to take fuller advantage of larger screen sizes can also create dedicated layouts and assets for larger screens and add them to their existing applications." That isn't what that emboldened text means. Just that apps originally made for smaller screens will run on Honeycomb. Although, if you set the screen size smaller when emulating Honeycomb, the regular status bar appears and the launcher fails, so I feel like google will work on the launcher a little more and make it work on phones...

Rumour has it they will release a mirrored OS for phones, running "android 2.5", will have most of the features of 3.0 but built for phones.
