Im with giff gaff and tonight when i was out i went to use my internet on my blade. Trouble was when i scanned for wireless networks the only available was the cloud...

Now i couldn't use that as it was only for O2 and it meant having to pay them for it.

So my question is how the hell do you guys use the internet on your phone..... are you all on O2 or how the hell you doing it?

If your with giffgaff just make sure the apn is set properly and you'll have no problem using internet anywhere

Even if you have a rubbish 3g signal 2g works just fine, I actually have my 3g turned off as the battery lasts longer using 2g

There is no need to search for wifi networks while out if you have a giffgaff sim as you have free data at the moment unless you have no credit.

I do not use the internet on my phone much while I'm out, but when I want to browse the web I try to use 3G/2G data. I wouldn't bother searching for wifi signals. Wifi drains the battery and there are never any free hotspots around me anyway. Of course on 3G you have to be careful of your data usage.

The more annoying thing about browsing the web over 3G is that you'll come across your network provider's adult content block. This annoyed me when it happened on Orange! Some totally legitimate sites are blocked by Orange's "Safeguard". And guess how helpful Orange are about removing it? Of course -- utterly useless!

The website help tells me I have two ways of removing Safeguard: 1) Walk into an Orange shop and present PhotoID and ask to have Safeguard lifted, or 2) call Customer Services and prove my identity by giving my credit card number. I tried both. I called Customer Services and spoke to an Indian gentleman who didn't seem to have a clue. He told me that he couldn't do it with his computer, and I had to go to an Orange shop. So I went into the Orange shop and was immediately told, "No we can't do that, it has to be done by Customer Services on their computer." I tried Customer Services again, and was told that I had to top up using my credit card and that would prove I was over 18... but I think that's rubbish. Besides, I'm not ready to top up -- I'm just using up the £20 I had to buy with the SanFran, while I decide to move to another provider. Giffgaff perhaps? (But I read that they have an adult content blocker too! And they don't even have shops or customer service...)

I know, I know, using Opera Mini is a way around it. But I don't like Opera Mini much... they say it's faster, but for me it's slower and renders pages badly.

for what it's worth I've never come across a block on giffgaff which is actually O2's network

although I can't guarantee there isn't one, I've just not come across it yet

if you use a credit card to top up on giffgaff adult block is removed, for me (never added a card to my giffgaff account) all over 18 sites are blocked & some forums, not a huge problem tho as opera mini bi-passes the content block

Giffgaff do have a block but it can be removed on the o2 website. For me it didn't work just by using a card to top up to get rid of it,but worked fine from the o2 page.

yep I also removed the block from the 02 site but this only.unblocked the majority of sites (Facebook, yahoo...) but for some reason I still have a block on 18+ sites & some forums(strange) , A giffgaff agent told me I would have to add a credit card to my account as its the only way to prove I'm over 18 or have consent off an adult

hah, you're right. just tried to get on a porn site and was unable to. didnt even know i still had restrictions in place. but some of the restrictions are definitely off as i am able to access websites i wasnt able to before going to the o2 site. will try to get it lifted, although i can access all the things i need to.
