I found JustPictures! to be jerky and laggy on the SanFran (great for integrating Picasa, Facebook etc. pictures though). If you want to keep it simple and speedy QuickPic is the way to go.

Just tried Quickpic myself and its really nice. It also confirms for me that the standard Gallery app while running several times slower just upscales images when you zoom in rather than showing the full image pixels. Whats up with that?

I don't have a ZTE Blade (I'm an Advent Vega owner) but I'll add my vote for Quickpic; it's the best picture viewer I've found so far.

Oh wow, I have just seen this for myself. When I started using the stock Gallery app, I assumed the phone did the same thing iPhones/iPods do, which is "optimise" pictures to about twice the screen resolution. I thought, "That sucks" but didn't think much more of it. But now I have checked out QuickPic and you're right: it displays the whole original file in all its resolution. And manages to be much faster, and gives you sorting options.

Is there any harm in deleting the stock Gallery app? (It would have to be done rooted, with something like Titanium Backup). I see that Gallery seems to run itself quite often, it's always popping up in my task killer. So is it essentially linked to Android, or can it be deleted?

You can delete it, however, gallery short-cut on camera app won't work and you won't be able to chose custom icon pictures for LauncherPro, apart from that, I would recommend removing stock gallery - it really is a mess ;)

Oh, apparently none of the above applies any more since the last QuickPic update - it is getting better and better ;)

Yep, I have been looking for something better than Gallery, tried loads on my OSF and quickpic is the best so far and does what it says on the tin (when you have saved the pictures to cache - if you have a lot - it is pretty quick). The best I have found. Great app.
