Guest NucMed Posted January 28, 2011 Report Posted January 28, 2011 Hi all Have just got my Advent Vega and tried to connect to my PC using the USB cable and Transfer Companion. My PC is running Windows XP and it appears to have installed fine, however whenever I try to move a file across to my SD card I get the error message 'card is write protected'. I have set the Vega up for USB storage, otherwise the PC doesn't detect it. Can anyone let me know what I'm doing wrong? Thanks

Thanks On the Vega normally before you connect it to a PC using the USB you have to run USB Debugging. To do this go into SETTINGS > APPLICATIONS > DEVELOPMENT > USB DEBUGGING and make sure box is ticked. If you haven't already done this then hopefully that will do the trick

Guest trevor432990 Posted January 28, 2011 Report Posted January 28, 2011 Well I'd suggest turning the Vega off completely (press power button for > 6 seconds) then taking the card out and put back in and reboot and see if that helps otherwise from the googles I've done it seems you may need to reformat the card using Settings -> SD card & phone storage -> unmount SD card -> Format SD card but we'd need to confirm with our fellow Vegans that Advent don't put anything on the SD card before it is delivered. I don't think they do but can someone else confirm that please?
Guest NucMed Posted January 31, 2011 Report Posted January 31, 2011 I tried installing the transfer companion on my laptop over the weekend and it worked a treat so I think it must be a bizarre security setting on my desktop rather than an issue with the Vega - Phew! Cheers
