Guest chimpy Posted January 28, 2011 Report Posted January 28, 2011 Hi, I've been lurking around here periodically since the Vega's release. It's now readily available and in stock, but I'm wondering if it's worth going for the Vega when the Adam and Xoom are on the horizon. The Adam doesn't seem that different from the Vega in terms of hardware specs, and both are going to be lagging behind when Honeycomb comes into the marketplace. The Vega's advantage is price, of course. Is it worth going for something that is already sort of obsolete? Or is there enough life in the Vega to justify me buying now? Any help much appreciated.

The vega won't be obsolete at all, there will be tonnes of new tablets this year most of which will have the same or very similar specs to the vega and almost all of them, especially the tab2 and the Xoom will be stupidly priced.
Guest worto03 Posted January 28, 2011 Report Posted January 28, 2011 (edited) my own view on it is that there is always something newer\better\cheaper on the horizon when your looking at gadgets or IT kit in general, there is a benefit to waiting but you can end up waiting forever! I don't think there will be a significant pricedrop on the vega apart from the odd voucher code here and there so I'd just go for it unless you think one of the other tablets you have mentioned will be either much better or much cheaper than the vega. If you play the 'wait for the new version' game then you'll never have a tablet. You pick a device that does what you want and buy it. you can guarantee it'll be obsolete quick or the price will drop no matter what device you buy. The Vega will support Honeycomb and will be viable for at least the rest of the year but, no doubt, it will be overtaken in functionality very quickly, but so will all the devices that follow. At the price it is you'd be mad not to buy one!
