Guest Darkmarster Posted January 29, 2011 Report Posted January 29, 2011 Well ive been looking at the SF for a while now and im still unsure, I am looking for a new phone to replace my blackberry. I also have a Dell streak and use that as my entertainment on my trian ride to work ;) I keep reading about issues with screens and build quality is this a bad issue as im probably only going to use it for 5 or 6 months b4 I find another phone that I like lol And advise?
Guest Rotmann Posted January 29, 2011 Report Posted January 29, 2011 Buy it, for the price it's unbeatable. You have to make some efforts to read the FAQs and guides and install 2.2 though, it gives the phone more value. There were some quality problems but nothing serious, you can see them at premium manufacturers like HTC or Samsung too.
Guest Macca56 Posted January 29, 2011 Report Posted January 29, 2011 For the price its a cracking phone,I did have to return my first phone(unresponsive oled screen) and was given a tft one but since putting on 2.2 jellyfish rom its been brilliant, battery life is far better and runs so much smoother. Its now the phone it should have been in the first place lol
Guest English Haze Posted January 29, 2011 Report Posted January 29, 2011 At £99 (£89 at Argos with £10 air time) it's a no brainer imo. It takes precisely 30 minutes to unlock and install a new ROM (I've settled on the MoDaCo 2.2 ROM after trying them all!). It's a great piece of kit for the money. I ditched my old HTC Hero for one. The screen is so much better! Get a £10 a month GiffGaff SIM and goody bag and you can't beat it for value.
Guest Darkmarster Posted January 29, 2011 Report Posted January 29, 2011 Thx guys makes me feel a bit better that no one has any bad words about it lol ;) think ill do some digging and get one ;)
Guest wbaw Posted January 29, 2011 Report Posted January 29, 2011 Build quality varies, but it's probably getting better. If you get a broken one, you can always get it replaced. My first one broke in a week, got a replacement from the orange shop with no fuss & the new one is perfect. It isn't as good as the top htc or samsung phones, but they cost around £400 on payg & it's not that much worse. It's beats any other under £200 phone. It's not such a great deal on contract, you could get a htc desire for not much more if you shop around.

Well my plan is not to get it on contract its just going to be a toy for a bit till something comes out that is worth a contract upgrade ;) Guess I need to decide on black or white lol

Guest Darkmarster Posted January 29, 2011 Report Posted January 29, 2011 Cool thx for the tip ;) black it is then
Guest phlum Posted January 29, 2011 Report Posted January 29, 2011 choose black and you could get a OLED one, a better screen The TFT one is fine, too! ;) @OP: All white Blades have TFT screens, and grey ones can have TFT or OLED.
Guest HMZX Posted January 29, 2011 Report Posted January 29, 2011 The TFT one is fine, too! ;) @OP: All white Blades have TFT screens, and grey ones can have TFT or OLED. yeah each have their own strengths and weaknesses. but the OLED is still slightly better! ;)
Guest HMZX Posted January 29, 2011 Report Posted January 29, 2011 What are the differences? oled: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Organic_light...iode#Advantages oled vs lcd: http://www.symbian-guru.com/welcome/2008/0...difference.html
Guest redbaron51 Posted January 29, 2011 Report Posted January 29, 2011 oled: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Organic_light...iode#Advantages oled vs lcd: http://www.symbian-guru.com/welcome/2008/0...difference.html Have mine for less than 2 weeks and love it. with the help from this forum I doubt you are going for a more expensive HTC model. Bought another one last night for the OH, unlocked it, flashed JJ9 with the new guide (even easier) and will migrate OH's SIM to giffgaff £10 goodybag. I think there is no better value-for-money smartphone. Buy with confidence. HTH
