Guest Vinodmenon Posted January 29, 2011 Report Posted January 29, 2011 Friends, I am new to Android and got my first Android device last week - The Dell Streak, factory installed froyo 2.2, unlocked. I am facing a strange problem. When ever my device wakes up from sleep, the wifi is disabled. It will never connect to the default connection again automatically. A message "Disabled" is displayed below the default connection and Android starts scanning for open networks. But will never connect to the default connection. Then I have to manually select my default connection and click on "connect" from the option. Then it connects without any problem. I am getting frustrated with Android just because of this issue. Please help me... Device : Dell Streak OS - Android Froyo 2.2 Wifi security setup WPA2-PSK

Device : Dell Streak OS - Android Froyo 2.2 Wifi security setup WPA2-PSK Have you checked this: Settings - Wireless & Networks - Wi-Fi Settings - touch the menu icon (middle one) - Advanced - Wi-Fi sleep policy There are three options here, you may have to select 'Never' Good luck
Guest Tim6772 Posted January 29, 2011 Report Posted January 29, 2011 WiFi Keep Alive (free on Market) works well. Install and select the option you want ( i chose keep alive always, bit more of a battery drain, but worth it for my needs) HTH

But Android seems to not listening to that. Even though the wifi sleep policy is never, it is getting disconnected.

Give it a try and let me know if it works :D Market QR code:

I haven't had a chance to look into it, but I'll reply here again if I find out what's going on.
Guest richardop Posted February 21, 2011 Report Posted February 21, 2011 Tried. Not working. After sometime, the wifi status is switched off. By default the app will disable wifi after 20 minutes, you just need to disable the "Enable Timeout" option and it should stay connected indefinitely. I'll change it in the next update so that option is disabled by default.
