Dropping rooted apk's directly into the ROM zip?

Since I got my San Fran a few weeks ago I've been flitting back and forth between most of the different ROMS. Each time I've done it I've had to re-install all my rooted apk's again one by one which is somewhat annoying.

I was just wondering would it be possible just to copy and paste my all my apk's directly into the ROM zip so that they'd install as soon as I loaded that particular ROM up? Thus avoiding having to use an app installer to install them all too.

Presumably I'd just paste them into the app folder right?

1.extract the rom zip.

2.copy the APKs to the system\app folder

3.zip it again.

4.place the modified zip to sd card.

5.install from the recovery
