Hi Orange,

As there have been 2.2 release in other places in the world for some time already will Orange UK ever release the Froyo version or this forums version of 2.2 are good enough for me to make the jump?

I have the following packages from 21st of Oct:

r4-update-modacocustomrom-blade-signed.zip

recovery-clockwork-2.5.0.9-modaco-r2-blade.img

boot.blade.superboot.mcri.r3.img

For the r7-update-modacocustomrom-blade-kitchen-unsigned.zip will I also need to update the clockwork?

Thank you very much

With the skill of some of the people on the forum it really doesn't matter per say. As long as we get an official 2.2 ROM that is for our base hardware they will likely be able to make something better then Orange. Pauls 2.2 ROMS are very good!

For more information on installing the ROM, R8 is the latest available, see the ROM forum.

Short answer re: Orange is no. Everything I've read strongly suggests they're not going to.

The forum versions of 2.2 are absolutely good enough - I'm an Android newbie, and I managed it without any major headaches. Make sure you do a complete Nandroid backup through Clockwork, and I would suggest doing supplementary backups of your settings and apps with Titanium. If you're like me (a sentimental fool and an obsessive about backups) grab SMS Backup & Restore from the market - it's free, and it'll backup your SMS, unsurprisingly.

I can't answer your specific question re: Clockwork - it's worth checking the pinned topic on that ROM. I'm using the same one, and I'm a very happy customer. Speaking of which, I cannot recommend highly enough that you pay up for the years membership - it's a bargain at twice the price, and access to the kitchen is wonderful. I upgraded to r11 the other day and I'm absolutely delighted with it. Touch wood, I've had no bugs or issues with it.

Use Seb's 2.2 ROMs, they will be as close to stock as possible ;)
