Text message notification

All of a sudden today, everytime I get a new text message, I get the standard text message notification in the notification bar[the one that has the speech balloon and contacts name], plus a new messages notification, that tells me that i have an unread msg. Has a picture that looks like a postcard beside it. Any one know what i need to do to stop the second notification???
