Guest Clark80 Posted January 31, 2011 Report Posted January 31, 2011 Hi all, I have had my Vega a little while now and I'm running v1.06.5 with r6 + PP I want to update my firmware to v1.08 but not sure how to do this via Terminal on my mac. All instructions are for Windows... Can anyone provide some guidance or point me somewhere to read up? I can follow instructions really well ;)
Guest Clark80 Posted February 2, 2011 Report Posted February 2, 2011 Bump... I have done a number of net searches to learn terminal but coming up short as far as updating an android device via my mac
Guest emergant Posted February 2, 2011 Report Posted February 2, 2011 Bump... I have done a number of net searches to learn terminal but coming up short as far as updating an android device via my mac The vega updates consist of a self extracting zip file containing: the rom (.img files a.bct file, and a bootloader.bin) flash.cfg file which contains info on the partition table some windows dll files (unimportant) a batch file containing the command line run by the flashing utility. You can look at this to find the correct arguments to run. Nvflash.exe (a windows only flashing utility) The problem for mac owners is Nvflash. Theres a linux version of this utility but no mac version. So you either need to manually flash the img files in another way (clockworkmod?) which I've not tried or you need to be able to run the windows/linux version of nvflash. I've done it from a linux vm running on a macbook which works well. Theres a tinycore linux vm in another thread here but I cant find it at the moment but you'll have to google for the linux nvflash. Hopes this helps You could of course wait for Pauls next release
Guest Clark80 Posted February 2, 2011 Report Posted February 2, 2011 Thanks v much. I'll have a look and see what Paul releases next
Guest thedicemaster Posted February 2, 2011 Report Posted February 2, 2011 you could try http://android.modaco.com/content/advent-v...owipe-smallbar/ mcr7 pre-release. it's based on 1.08, but with custom kernel and a 2 click installer for mac and linux(requires your tablet to be in usb-slave mode with debugging on)
Guest warriorscot Posted February 2, 2011 Report Posted February 2, 2011 I do know there are a couple of mac users at least and Paul if I remember rightly is a mac user so you could try PMing one of them.
Guest GingerDayWalker Posted February 3, 2011 Report Posted February 3, 2011 Yo i've been using Parallels and running windows XP, get best of both then ;). Works fine
