Guest goatee Posted January 31, 2011 Report Posted January 31, 2011 (edited) I assume there's some sort of standard Android API call made to search the phone / SD card for different media - e.g. images, sounds, etc. It just isn't working at all. What this means, is that I cannot choose a ringtone, alarm sound, my own wallpaper image etc, and is driving me bananas. It used to work, and then when I flashed MCR11 it stopped working. I tried wiping and reflashing the phone. I then wiped, repartitioned, and formatted the SD card, but to no avail. I'm now on JJ9, but somehow, it wasn't cured even with a wipe. Any ideas? Guest Phoenix Silver Posted January 31, 2011 Report Posted January 31, 2011 what do you do exactly step by step ?
Guest goatee Posted January 31, 2011 Report Posted January 31, 2011 (edited) what do you do exactly step by step ? Firstly, to nuke my SD card, I simply unmounted it, and used the Android format tool. Then I repartitioned it with Minitool, and copied JJ9 onto it. Then, boot into Clockwork, select wipe/factory reset, and finally choose the JJ9 .zip file. I also found this on XDA - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread...375#post9818375, but it didn't work ;). su pm enable com.android.providers.media/com.android.providers.media.MediaScannerReceiver[/codebox] Edited January 31, 2011 by goatee
Guest Phoenix Silver Posted January 31, 2011 Report Posted January 31, 2011 no to select a media file ;)
Guest goatee Posted January 31, 2011 Report Posted January 31, 2011 no to select a media file ;) Lol - an example - go into Alarm, and set an alarm, then when I want to select a ringtone, when I choose "Android System", nothing happens, and when I choose "Select Music", and select "Music", it says "No music files or SD card not present". Otherwise, open Gallery, and it just says "There are no items in your collection".
Guest amh181276 Posted February 3, 2011 Report Posted February 3, 2011 Anyone? Are you doing this with the USB cable plugged in? If so unplug it and try again if you have not worked this out already. It might be worth putting Quick System Info or similar on to confirm phone can see your SD card. Where have you copied the tones to? For ringtones have you tried Rings Extended app and placing the tones in the media\audio\ringtones folder? Hope this helps
Guest goatee Posted February 3, 2011 Report Posted February 3, 2011 Tried this with the USB cable in or out. Oddly, last night I took a photo, and the gallery app can see the new photo, but none of the other photos in the folder. . . Will fiddle some more! Are you doing this with the USB cable plugged in? If it can see new photo's - I wonder what would happen if you connected the USB cable and cut all the Pictures off onto a laptop and then disconnected and went into the gallery, so it is empty - then reversed the process and went into the gallery?
Guest goatee Posted February 3, 2011 Report Posted February 3, 2011 I'll give that a shot ;). Guest goatee Posted February 16, 2011 Report Posted February 16, 2011 (edited) Ok, I finally solved it, thanks to http://forum.cyanogenmod.com/topic/2592-al...dpost__p__74501 which showed me that having a .nomedia file stops Android scanning for media. This was in the root of my SD card. I am delighted after nearly 3 weeks, it's working again, but what the hell created the .nomedia file? Edited February 16, 2011 by goatee
