Guest ste1604 Posted January 31, 2011 Report Posted January 31, 2011 i have had my sanfrancisco now for a few days was given to me by a friend as he had his conract upgraded. whenever i use the phone, in a warm place the phone is fine, no problems atall. but if i go outside in the cold or take the phone into any cold place the phone screen starts to get a blue flicker on it. sometimes it only goes as far as the bottom of the status bar where it shows your battery and signal, but sometimes its either taking up half the screen or the whole screen. i can still see the screen and everything on it and use it while the blue flicker is there, no matter how much of the screen it is taking up. but obviously it shouldnt be there. i cant get a replacement as the phone isnt originally mine, and my friend lives too far away, so yesterday i rooted, added the clockwork mod recovry, i tried loads of roms on it but with no success, so i had to flash the stock orange rom for my phone and the stock boot and recovery images to remove clockwork mod recovery. i did have a backup but it had the clockwork mod on it so i wanted stock, to get rid of clockwork. I THINK I HAVE THE OLED MODEL AS MY BUILD NUMBER IS OUK_P729BV1.0.0B05 my build number was this also before i even done anything to the phone. please help, i have uploaded some pictures of what this problem looks like.

Guest T3KO Posted January 31, 2011 Report Posted January 31, 2011 Just let your friend return it for you. So that seems to be an OLED problem?

Guest Stuart_f Posted January 31, 2011 Report Posted January 31, 2011 How could they possibly know you aren't the first user? I bought mine with cash in an orange shop. There's no record of me at all on their system. I didn't even register the sim card so there's no way they could know you aren't the original owner. If they try to say that you need to show the receipt then tell them they are breaking the law. The sale of goods act does not require a vendor to give you a receipt therefore it is not legal for a vendor to demand one to exercise your rights (regardless of what the manager or company policy might like to say). The serial number should be enough for them to know that the phone is less than a year old. Tracking this is the vendor's problem, not yours. http://www.which.co.uk/consumer-rights/sal...ts/your-rights/

Guest Posted January 31, 2011 Report Posted January 31, 2011 Just have your friend scan the receipt and send it to via e-mail. If he can't do that, I have another really wild idea: Tell him to put it in an envelope and send it to you by classic snail mail! If he can't do that as well, for whatever reason, get yourself some bubble wrap and a small cardboard box, send the phone to his place and ask him to stop by the next Orange shop. I really don't get your problem.

As it stands the OP has a 2nd hand phone and has zero rights under SoGA. OP, you need to get your friend to phone them.
Guest tobybarker Posted January 31, 2011 Report Posted January 31, 2011 I'm getting a vibe that says OP is not telling us the full story......
Guest ste1604 Posted January 31, 2011 Report Posted January 31, 2011 (edited) iv'e been in touch with orange since, and i told them that im not the original purchaser of the handset, and just to save me worrying of any problems in the future i said it a few times that im not the original purchaser of the handset, and that i did NOT buy it in a orange store, i did NOT buy it at orange online store or i did NOT buy it over the phone, and that the handset was given to me. the guy from orange customer care told me as long as its a orange branded handset i can get a replacement. and i should be expecting a replacement tomorow, so hopefully they do not turn around in a couple of days or a few weeks and say, look you are not the original purchaser of this handset, so you need to send the replacement back. if, in either a few days or a few weeks they do turn around and say i need to send the replacement back surely i would be able to get my faulty handset back????? Guest fredewis Posted January 31, 2011 Report Posted January 31, 2011 just make sure none of the mod things are install including recovery ...... dont want them having a escuse.
Guest ste1604 Posted January 31, 2011 Report Posted January 31, 2011 ive removed clockwork mod recovery and all other mod type related things, and installed a stock rom
Guest HMZX Posted January 31, 2011 Report Posted January 31, 2011 (edited) there was a thread on here called 'how to fix the blue tint on the SF' search for that found it: http://android.modaco.com/content/zte-blad...-on-tft-device/ Edited January 31, 2011 by HMZX
Guest Posted January 31, 2011 Report Posted January 31, 2011 there was a thread on here called 'how to fix the blue tint on the SF' search for that found it: http://android.modaco.com/content/zte-blad...-on-tft-device/ That's about the blue tint from OLED-only ROMs being flashed to TFT devices. OPs problem seems temperature related and thus is most likely a hardware fault.

Take it up with trading standards. thanks for your replies and everybody else that replied, just received my replacement, so hopefully they do not turn around in a couple of days or a few weeks and say, look you are not the original purchaser of this handset, so you need to send the replacement back.
