Guest Paul Posted February 2, 2011 Report Posted February 2, 2011 r7 released - view topic. ;) Please continue any discussion in that topic! P
Guest Sir Gash Posted February 2, 2011 Report Posted February 2, 2011 Changelog r1Initial Release Thanks Paul, trying it now. With regards to your download system, it doesn't seem to work on the Vega itself (after entering the captcha I just get a small 70k file). Tried it from work but our blasted WebSense is blocking the domain - classing it as 'Proxy Avoidance'. I had to remote onto my home PC and transfer the file! Cheers.
Guest nickwarn Posted February 2, 2011 Report Posted February 2, 2011 it fails to install when running thru adb. At the end it runs out of memory ithink it said and there is alot of permissions denied. Going back to 1.06.5 to flash clockwor and try that way.
Guest nsc Posted February 2, 2011 Report Posted February 2, 2011 Install without ClockworkMod went smoothly for me.

Guest Paul Posted February 2, 2011 Report Posted February 2, 2011 Confirmed issue with CWM, updating now (thanks everyone for the reports, apologies for cleaning the topic a bit!). P
Guest nsc Posted February 2, 2011 Report Posted February 2, 2011 Just noticed it hadn't updated the kernel to r2 refresh (I had r2 manually installed on 1.06) Line 118 in install-linux.sh is missing a ./ at the start.

Guest Sir Gash Posted February 2, 2011 Report Posted February 2, 2011 pre2 online. P That did the trick, installed via CWM fine this time Cheers
Guest nickwarn Posted February 2, 2011 Report Posted February 2, 2011 Clockwork flashes and booting. No problem here
Guest carl rose Posted February 2, 2011 Report Posted February 2, 2011 pre2 online. P Thanks for this paul. I will give it a wirl once I get in. Just an off topic question, is there a way of saving desktop layout with the vega's original launcher? What I mean is, once I restore all my programs instead of having to put all the shortcuts and in the same place they were before, a program that creates and puts all the shortcuts in the right position you had them? Thanks in advance
Guest alphaola Posted February 2, 2011 Report Posted February 2, 2011 (edited) installed ok via CWM. Note:after first reboot, give it time for the rom to settle down as it took like 1-2 mins for mine to be smooth and usable after first boot update: after quick use, it seems laggy. ;) Edited February 2, 2011 by alphaola
Guest Disguisedcoot Posted February 2, 2011 Report Posted February 2, 2011 So what would be the benefit of this over 1.065 an pp etc? Slowly getting my head around
Guest nickwarn Posted February 2, 2011 Report Posted February 2, 2011 It dont feel as snappy as 1.06.5 with r6. It takes time adding widgets for ex. You choose one from the menu and then it takes while then the next one shows up and so on. It feels just like 1.08 did a little laggy. I tryed most things rebooting, fixing permissions and so on. But for beta exellent
Guest wipeout140 Posted February 2, 2011 Report Posted February 2, 2011 Just wanted to confirm it fails to install when running through adb on Windows XP SP3 as well At the end there alot of permissions denied - same as nick said (Also i think 3 at the start). Going back to 1.06.5 then flash update through clockwork
Guest Paul Posted February 2, 2011 Report Posted February 2, 2011 There is no performance pack on this as yet! P

Could someone post exactly what failures happen at the start on Windows? P
Guest Paul Posted February 2, 2011 Report Posted February 2, 2011 Actually, could someone on Windows edit 'install-windows.bat' and replace: adb-windows.exe push files/data/mcr/sh /data/sh with: adb-windows.exe push files\data\mcr\sh /data/sh and try again? P

Guest mjcampbell12 Posted February 2, 2011 Report Posted February 2, 2011 tried the install on 1.08 using higgsy custom rom and it failed and then got stuck in a booting loop. had to reflash using 1.08 higgsy mod once more. i followed the instruction so unless it just wont work over the top of the Higgsy rom. i tried for most of the morning to update to your new kernel with no joy kept getting errors saying the file is read only. that is a side note. apologies very new to android.
Guest wipeout140 Posted February 2, 2011 Report Posted February 2, 2011 (edited) Paul i have edited the .bat file and i will see if that makes a difference, I post the results later. Edited February 2, 2011 by wipeout140
Guest Sir Gash Posted February 2, 2011 Report Posted February 2, 2011 After installing this I have lost nearly 30MB of internal storage, only have 19MB free now! Any idea why this release is eating up so much more storage? First boot ended up in a system crash, tried again, let it settle for 5 minutes. As already pointed out, it is very laggy and unresponsive at times. On the plus side, rendering artifacts (little black or white horizontal lines that usually appear during screen transitions or some games and Live Wallpapers) seem to be completely gone. There seems to be a massive slowdown that occurs every 10-15 seconds or so as well which is very off putting ;)
Guest Paul Posted February 2, 2011 Report Posted February 2, 2011 You should clear your dalvik cache ('adb shell stop && adb shell rm -r /data/dalvik-cache/* && adb reboot'). That should help. re: speed and responsiveness, this has no significant performance enhancements as yet, this is primarily testing the install system! P
