Guest Doc Rumack Posted February 2, 2011 Report Posted February 2, 2011 Hi all, New user here and I have just ordered an Orange San Francisco after many hours of reading the forum. I'm fairly certain I have the know how to de-brand and change firmware in the device, having flashed phones years ago. ;) I have downloaded the User Guide from the Orange site already, and am having a good read. I was just wondering if the original ZTE manufacturers guide was available to download from anywhere. I know all the info I need is on this forum but it would be nice to have an electronic copy of the manufacturers manual if it is freely available. Thanks, Doc.
Guest Dan Diplo Posted February 2, 2011 Report Posted February 2, 2011 Dunno about a ZTE manual, but you can download Google's Android 2.2 User Guide. If you are using a custom ROM then this explains all the standard Anroid features, which is basically what you will be left with. Not sure if there is that much ZTE specific stuff actually in the phone (but someone please correct me if I'm wrong).
Guest udo_uk Posted February 2, 2011 Report Posted February 2, 2011 (edited) Here it is.. English instructions with Greek screen-shots but it shouldn't be a problem. Also its for the Greek stock rom. Guest oh!dougal Posted February 2, 2011 Report Posted February 2, 2011 (edited) ... I have downloaded the User Guide from the Orange site already, and am having a good read. I was just wondering if the original ZTE manufacturers guide was available to download from anywhere. ... You might be amused/interested to learn that it was essentially the Orange manual that ZTE submitted to the USA FCC for approval - calling the phone 'San Francisco' rather than either Blade or "Venus". http://android.modaco.com/content/zte-blad...sts-photos-etc/ So, the Orange manual IS the ZTE (English) user manual ... One trivial but vital scrap of info missing from the Orange manual is to replace the battery cover as the reverse of removing it. Specifically, when replacing the cover, start by hooking it over the power switch. Don't try to force the switch out of the way by just pressing the cover straight onto the case! ;) ;) Edited February 2, 2011 by oh!dougal

Guest casey99 Posted February 2, 2011 Report Posted February 2, 2011 Just wanted to say thank you to all posters. Very useful information, including the refitting of the back. Hope to be rooting and tooting soon. ;) Doc. I got my SF a couple of weeks ago from Orange telesales and in the box it had a separate piece of paper explaining specifically how to remove/refit the back cover, I guess they have had problems with people getting it wrong. On a different note, I'd like to thank all the contributors and devs on this forum, they made it easy for this Noob to de-orange then, later, flash a new ROM.
