Guest TylerDurdenK Posted February 2, 2011 Report Posted February 2, 2011 I am trying to get my HTC Hero to share it's GPS signal with the Vega. I am following the instructions here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=852847 But I cannot get the two devices to connect properly. They see each other but they will not connect, they only pair. What can I try, I am going out of my mind!

It is normal for Bluetooth to say paired but not connected even when it is working correctly (for some odd reason) which Bluetooth GPS app are you using to connect the Vega to the Hero?
Guest TylerDurdenK Posted February 2, 2011 Report Posted February 2, 2011 (edited) I am running "Bluetooth GPS version 0.5.8a" on the Vega and "ShareGPS" on my Hero. I'll have a read of your post, cheers. *EDIT* How strange, I had started off using your guide and "Bluetooth GPS Provider" but it hadn't worked so I was looking elsewhere. I just reinstalled it to try again, and it's picked up the GPS signal from my Hero straight away. Nice one! Now to test it in the Apps. Edited February 2, 2011 by TylerDurdenK
Guest TylerDurdenK Posted February 2, 2011 Report Posted February 2, 2011 (edited) Well that was short lived. I am back to the "GPS Problem error on Bluetoot GPS Provider" God only knows why it was working, and now why it's not! *EDIT* I think I worked out what stopped it from working. It appears to break when I select the option to use Wireless Networks for my location. Now I'm stuck in the Navigation Software with this GPS is disabled. Show Location settings? [OK] Edited February 2, 2011 by TylerDurdenK

Hmm that's interesting as on mine you need that set and the allow mock location set too ;) Edit:- The BT GPS app needs several satellites to be acquired before it can kick off Car Home normally so don't know how ShareGPS works but maybe it is still grabbing some? ;) Edit:- Can you check your BT GPS Provider app settings are set as follows:- Choose GPS receiver ..... shows your Hero's ID and address? Force = Ticked Switch Bluetooth = Ticked Autostop = Unticked Raw HDOP = Ticked GPS Type = Other Switch to NMEA = Ticked (but maybe not required see previous note) Edit:- Additionally go into Car Home app settings screen (reached by right arrow on app home screen) and go into Bluetooth starts Car Home and set Timeout to NEVER as that could be where you are losing your GPS signal ..... maybe Eidt:- Going out for about 3 hours so will catch up with you later to see how you are getting on ... good luck :D Edited February 2, 2011 by trevor432990

Tyler where are you at? Edited February 2, 2011 by trevor432990
Guest TylerDurdenK Posted February 3, 2011 Report Posted February 3, 2011 (edited) Still stuck at GPS is disabled on the Navigation app. :-( this is despite Bluetooth GPS Provider showing that between 9 and 11 satellites are being tracked properly, with an accuracy of down to 1m. Google maps also shows up with my correct location. Edited February 3, 2011 by TylerDurdenK

Did you do as QLF recommended (above) and do a clean install of 1.06.05 and custom rom addon + PP this certainly seemed to clear the problem for him and others I know? ;) For info TylerDurdenk has resolved this problem by carrying out this recommended action. See concluding notes here . Edited February 3, 2011 by trevor432990
