Guest aradalien Posted February 2, 2011 Report Posted February 2, 2011 Ok i have about 1k to spend on an android which is gonna be high end and keep my zte blade for customising, The 3 Contenders are large screen androids. 1, Nexus S 16gb internal memory no sd slot 2 HTC Desire HD 1.5gb internal and upto 32 sd card 3 Galaxy S 8gb internal and 32gb sd card + let me know of any other recomendations that u think may be worthy Thx loksie
Guest Andoidian Posted February 2, 2011 Report Posted February 2, 2011 Personally I think it'd be fairly stupid to buy any high end phone right now. It's the eve of the dual cores, and regardless of whether they're any good you should at least hang around until they are released.

Guest Posted February 2, 2011 Report Posted February 2, 2011 (edited) 1k? ;) The Motorola Droid Bionic and the LG star are the best known Android phones. They aren't out in the UK yet but they will be in a few months. http://www.engadget.com/2011/01/05/motorol...ionic-hands-on/ http://www.engadget.com/2010/12/15/lg-opti...s-with-android/ Both have 2GHz CPUs (Dual Core 1GHz) and output 1080p. Or, you can get the Motorola Atrix 4G which is confirmed for release on Orange in May. Similar specs, but it does some stuff that is simply mind blowing ;) Just check out this link. If you have 1k to spend you might as well get the laptop dock too. :D http://www.engadget.com/2011/01/28/motorol...atrix-4g-video/ Edited February 2, 2011 by Guest
Guest Andoidian Posted February 2, 2011 Report Posted February 2, 2011 Regardless of the fact I think you should wait, I'm not expecting anything particularly great out of the dual-cores. After all, if you do anything which pushes the phone to it's limits you'll just rape the battery life.

After all, if you do anything which pushes the phone to it's limits you'll just rape the battery life. The 2 Motorola dual core phones both come with 1930 mAh batteries, and the Nvidia Tergra 2 chips supposedly have low power consumption. It should run or par with the battery from the Nexus One etc, maybe even better.
Guest rbbrslmn Posted February 2, 2011 Report Posted February 2, 2011 I'd rather have genital warts than a motorola phone....
Guest Frankish Posted February 2, 2011 Report Posted February 2, 2011 (edited) I'd rather have genital warts than a motorola phone.... Big fat lol. ;) EDIT: Actually i think they advertise the Motorola Defy as being Scratch Resistant, Splash Resistant and Genital Warts Resistant. It has shown a susceptibility to chlamydia. Guest ste1604 Posted February 2, 2011 Report Posted February 2, 2011 you could wait for the samsung galaxy s 2

Seriously wouldn't you prefer a phone with a massive battery that would either auto-connect to the "Hub" (Instead of a dock :D) when powered on / in range / when a button is pressed? Wireless n is fully capable of streaming 1080p.. Hell Wireless G is ;) Nice idea though
Guest PeterPandroid Posted February 2, 2011 Report Posted February 2, 2011 After all, if you do anything which pushes the phone to it's limits you'll just rape the battery life. That'd be my main concern too. There's no new tech around the corner that will escape that fact that routinely exploiting 2GHz worth of clock cycles can do anything other than provide a short battery life. What do they expect to need that much power for anyhow? 3D video with shutter glasses? There are features I would rather see that don't need extra horsepower: Built-in LED projector, Internal hi-res diopter adjustable viewfinder / display. etc Pp

Just like intels i7 extreme range is more efficient than some of AMDs dual / single cores ;) Ofc my answer is to but a hydrogen fuel cell into a phone ;) But for some reason no matter how many working prototypes are created someone quickly tucks it under the carpet
Guest fonix232 Posted February 2, 2011 Report Posted February 2, 2011 OOOOO what is that OS there? I suppose it isn't Mac OS X, maybe some kind of Linux?

Guest Matthew Ferguson Posted February 2, 2011 Report Posted February 2, 2011 Chrome lol I'm pretty sure that's not Chrome OS.
Guest Azurren Posted February 2, 2011 Report Posted February 2, 2011 I'm pretty sure that's not Chrome OS. Pretty sure Chrome OS wouldn't be modelling firefox so freely ;)
Guest fonix232 Posted February 2, 2011 Report Posted February 2, 2011 Pretty sure Chrome OS wouldn't be modelling firefox so freely ;) I agree. First I thought it is Android (based on top bar) but it isn't (or an unknown PC build). Then I thought about a Debian/Ubuntu build with Gnome Shell, but it isn't as I guess.
Guest shadowninty Posted February 2, 2011 Report Posted February 2, 2011 dual core at 1GHz does NOT equal 2GHz it can just process two things, each at 1GHz ;)
Guest aradalien Posted February 2, 2011 Report Posted February 2, 2011 (edited) Thx all but i cant resist not buying one so i think ill get a DHD for the extra storage and media capabilities and sense ui. Edited February 2, 2011 by aradalien
