Is this new? I have to admit I did never search for the android market on the pc before, so I did'nt know it wasn't there... I always used appbrain to browse apps on the pc.

Mine still wont list My Apps, Market still looks the same, what am I missing here, is there a new Market App you need to install or have I really lost it lol.

The only way I'm finding out about updates is purely by accident, ie: spotted Google maps went to 5.1 on a blog, had to manually install, must be loads more outdated, phones running gr8 apart from that annoyance.

Btw I tried the solutions mentioned earlier in this thread but no joy.

What a great website, just like the App Market Store but quicker and with better screenshots, it's really simple click on the App on your computer and as if by magic it starts downloading onto your 'phone it's great. Your phone does not need to be plugged into the PC either. Yes I'm easily impressed.

As mentioned above, Appbrain did all this ages ago - even the automatically downloading to the phone until google intentionally broke it before apparently ripping off the idea for themselves. :S

Still - it's a heck of a lot better than the old market. Once they get around to adding some decent search filters I spose I'll be ditching Appbrain!

I can't get it to install apps to my phone from the website. Anybody got this working?

edit: worked after a factory reset. Very odd. I tried clearing the market app data but that didn't work ;)

Seems people are easy to impress these days. I find the Market website seems definitely unfinished, and especially the search function is underpowered and not intuitive (and we're speaking about Google here!). Where is "advanced search" that lets you search for an App title only in category X? (e.g., "dice" in Games) It seems that search recognizes an (undocumented) list of keywords as categories, but this falls apart again if you want to search for "dice" in games AND want apps that run on small screens on Android 1.6.

Being able to filter out the numerous number of apps that stalk you by requesting phone id permissions and then probably send around your id around the interwebs would probably also not hurt (i.e., feature to filter by requested permissions).

Really, the market is underwhelming. Pretty much every normal web shop does better than that I think.

Edit: Forgot to mention that search seems also quite broken. It lists apps having the keywords neither in the title nor in description often, even with high ranking. I guess this is either a major bug or some kind of ill advertisement idea.

If you select Live wallpaper and then select top free it gives you puzzles instead. Clearly needs some work.

security risk?

i guess this means google is able to push any app to our phone - including ones that log our calls/text messages, snaffle pictures from the SD card etc etc.

pretty scary if the account details were to be hacked or leaked/lost...
