Setting Default Keyboard

After updating to the Modaco Custom Froyo rls7 ROM I have found, along with a few other bugs (eg black and white video player on all video apps and on camera viewfinder, but often goes back to colour after reboot), that I cant find how to set the default keyboard :/

Currently most of the time it uses the touchpal keyboard, which I found harder to use and to be honest, just plain ugly. I am trying to set the keyboard default to swype (which is installed and does work).

I wouldn't mind the default android keyboard as default either, just as long as its not touchpal ;)

When I previously uninstalled apps using the titanium backup method on my stock rom, the application name still showed up in the list of installed applications.

I wouldn't mind un-installing touchpal if this didn't happen.

Any help on setting the default would be appreciated, as would whether touchpal would continue to show up on the list of installed a

Cheers in advance ;)

This sounds more like an issue with the ROM than with user or keyboard error. I suggest you change to JJ RLS9 or FLB Froyo G2 R7a. I say this because if you've used Swype on the phone, it should remain the default keyboard if the ROM has been installed correctly and is functioning as it should.

Am i right in assuming you need to know how to choose the keyboard for inputting text messages etc?

If so - when you open up a message app and you are going to choose who to send the message to there will be a bar at the top of the screen with your current selected keyboard below.

Just long press on the top bar and after a second it will give you a message requesting input method - from here choose the keyboard which you wish to use and then it should be set as default (if you want to change keyboard again then just rinse and repeat until you find your favoured keyboard)

If i have your post wrong then i apologise ;)

I know how to set the keyboard, its just it doesn't remain default. Anyway I installed touchpal and it no longer shows on the list of apps :D , so now the default is android keyboard, which isn't so bad. (but still not swype ;) )

I am considering swapping rom anyway, which would you recommend for performance/least bugs?

Cheers again ;)

If you've moved your keyboard to the SD card then it'll 'forget' it's the default when you reboot, plug the phone into a PC, or otherwise dismount the sd card .

Guess what? Never before has anyone asked this question, so unfortunately, there is no related information at all on this forum. ;)
