Guest kmblade Posted February 2, 2011 Report Posted February 2, 2011 (edited) Hi all, I had the Modaco 2.1 Custom ROM installed which I installed following the guides here so I have ClockworkMod recovery, etc, already installed and the phone was rooted and it all worked fine but I'm trying to upgrade to 2.2 which I'm able to do successfully except I'm unable to successfully use root rights so I'm wondering if I could get some help in understanding how this works/what I need to do? First of all, even though Superuser comes installed with the ROM, it seems I still need to do a number of things to get Root rights, I've managed it through the following but I'm unable to keep the root rights through a reboot, (the things I've done:) * in a command line, do "adb shell chmod 04755 /system/bin/su" * delete the application data of Superuser * open the apps which require root rights after running su in adb shell (this allows me to get root rights but only temporarily) So my question is, what do I need to do to get root rights without having to use adb each time? (Also, the main app I'm trying to get root rights for is Titanium backup) Any help would be much appreciated, thank you! Edited February 2, 2011 by kmblade

For both JJ RLS9 and FLB Froyo G2 R7a, two of the main 2.2 froyo ROMs out there, they both come rooted.

I haven't deleted anything and hardly changed much - I'm using su at a terminal to check.
Guest Posted February 3, 2011 Report Posted February 3, 2011 (edited) You only need to have root permissions on your current ROM if you intend to use the ZTE Recovery Manager app for flashing, not if you do it directly via Clockwork. EDIT: I missed your point about Titanuim Backup. Sorry. Edited February 3, 2011 by Guest
