Guest parithosh93 Posted February 3, 2011 Report Posted February 3, 2011 my acer liquid feels laggy during games, like minisquadron and assassins creed. I am running the liquid metal rom version 2.75 by dario. I want to know if making a swap partition will speed up things or not. Also I want to know how to do it? (p.s im a noob so please send the easiest guide possible) thanks a lot in advance ;)
Guest xdxdxdxdxdx Posted February 3, 2011 Report Posted February 3, 2011 swap can speed up your performance when ram run out.but,if you want use swap partition,it impossible at present.because swap partition need kernel support.but acer have not open they source of 2.2.so devs could not custome the kernel...............

If you want swap is simple. YOu need a ROM that support it. For example MIUI ROM. For my experience with swap enable you have more memory but slower.... I not suggest to use it
Guest parithosh93 Posted February 3, 2011 Report Posted February 3, 2011 does liquid metal froyo rom support it?

Guest fear_factory84 Posted February 3, 2011 Report Posted February 3, 2011 does liquid metal froyo rom support it? you need to flash modified boot.img like the ones for overclock. If you have liquid E you have no advantages from swap (you have 512mb ram), if you have a liquid E, it's better ramzswap (swap on ram) than plain swap, but no one compiled a 2.2 compatible kernel for that (2.1 roms with ramzswap were common).
Guest xdxdxdxdxdx Posted February 3, 2011 Report Posted February 3, 2011 if you want swap file.just download swapper configuration(green icon).
Guest enrix835 Posted February 3, 2011 Report Posted February 3, 2011 Not to be OT, but on my Liquid A1 I run Minisquadron without any lag. Have you tried to play these games on another ROM?
Guest parithosh93 Posted February 3, 2011 Report Posted February 3, 2011 sadly i havent tried anyother rom's. In this one minisquadron runs smooth sometimes and most of the times it lags. What about hd games like asphalt? would they run fine on the liquid?
Guest parithosh93 Posted February 3, 2011 Report Posted February 3, 2011 if you want swap file.just download swapper configuration(green icon). does this actually work without any negative consequences??
Guest xdxdxdxdxdx Posted February 3, 2011 Report Posted February 3, 2011 (edited) does this actually work without any negative consequences?? after enable swap.check the info on setcpu or type free on terminal emulator. Edited February 3, 2011 by xdxdxdxdxdx

Guest xdxdxdxdxdx Posted February 4, 2011 Report Posted February 4, 2011 could someone explain what "swapper configuration" is? a app called swapper configuration
Guest fischschneehase Posted February 4, 2011 Report Posted February 4, 2011 I think the Name Talks for itself...( right in englih?! XD)
Guest eiben_robert Posted February 4, 2011 Report Posted February 4, 2011 I have Liquid A1 (256 RAM). Minisquadron, Rage Thunder 2 worked very good without swap or overclocking in stock froyo ROM / LCR 2.0 and T&L. Also Asphalt 5 was definitely playable despite occasional stutter. So if you should not bother with swap for games like the above. For Liquid A1 swap will help you if you do a lot of multitasking (background processes will not be closed that fast by Android) or if you have an app which needs lots of RAM (ie Dungeon Defenders). On the downside excessive use of swap will slow your system down due to Android paging info on the "slow" sdcard. Also it will probably kill your sdcard faster due to high number of read/write operations How to use this: 1. flash a ROM which supports swap. I used MIUI but I understand that CM6.1 also support it. LCR froyo and TL do not support swap as at now. 2. Download Swapper2 from the market. In it you can select the swap size and swappiness (for start leave them as default) then you click create swap and it is ready. It does not need a swap partition on your SD card but if you created one you can use it. I personally used swap only once to check "dungeon defenders". It worked with a 128 MB swap and 20 MB swappiness but... not quite perfect
Guest parithosh93 Posted February 4, 2011 Report Posted February 4, 2011 hmm...so could this be a rom problem? (btw i run metal froyo rom by dario)
