Phone app randomly FCing on 1.6.1

I dunno if anyone has seen this problem, but I seem to come across it pretty often. Can't really say if it was an issue before 1.6.1, since I wasn't using it with a SIM before that. Every so often, when a call comes in, the phone practically hangs. I usually end up not being able to answer that call. Once the call stops, the phone is working at a snails pace. The phone app FCs at this point, and then once I'm at the home screen everything has slowed down to a crawl! Takes ages for the phone to reach a different home screen or go to Settings menu or something like that. Every touch registers, but takes ages to do so! The only way to fix this is to reboot. This doesn't happen always though. Seems completely random. A lot of times, I can make and receive phone calls without a problem.

To eliminate any apps causing a conflict, I went down to 1.5.1, factory resetted, wiped cache, etc. and then came back up to 1.6.1 but the problem persists. I installed all my apps manually!!! Has anyone else faced this issue??? It's a shame because this flaw apart, 1.6.1 is an awesomely fast ROM!

Please don't mix this up with the screen not responding thread that's already there. I managed to work around that problem by recalibrating the screen and keeping the phone in my pocket, screen facing outwards!!!

I'm on 1.6.0 and my browser locks up quite regularly

I can0t answer the phone because of screen issue like in unlock screen.

But it never FCs

Are you overclocking too much maybe?

Nope. Not ocing. I don't have SetCPU installed when I used noapps in install.txt

ewen if you don't use noapps, setcpu isn't installed ;)

I'ts removed from system apps!

THan don't know the solution

Oh yeah! Forgot about that! Been using noapps since Steve added the installer capability! Keeps the ROM nice and clean!!!

Hopefully there's a solution to this!! Very annoying, missing out on calls like that. The worst part is, sometimes the screen doesn't show you who's calling and just goes black. All you can see is the notification bar on top. And since the phone app has FCed, when you reboot the phone, you can't see the last call which caused the phone app to FC! So you don't even know who's call you just missed!!

Are you using stock dialer??

I'm using DialerOne, it uses the same calling/answering screen, but keeps it's own call log

Same issue here, it's only happened a couple of times though. I'm running SetCPU... 1152/384 w/ smartass.

Yeah, on the stock dialer. I'll try DialerOne. Keeping my fingers crossed!! ;)

I have the exact problem as described and I actually mentioned it on the 1.6.1 thread.

I've tried Stock and Dialer One and the same result. I've flashed using a different LCD setting (only because I found that some changes worked on some setting and some didn't), same problem.

This time I've removed the 'noapps' option, still using Dialer One, and still no SetCPU installed or anything like that.

Just to add, my solution to the phone slowing down to a crawl...

when that happens I click on the power button (to lock the phone) and once it's on the black lock screen, I click the power button again to enable the screen. I find this works for me

everytime without the need to reboot. (This issue is also existent when I was testing the official 318 build)

What LCD setting are you using?? I'm using density140. I suppose I should try with noapps removed. Let's see how it goes. I just installed DialerOne. No one's called yet! Lol.

Well, the phone app still randomly FCs even with DialerOne, but the good thing now is that it hasn't crawled down to a standstill... Yet!!! Of course, it's just two calls so far, so I'll observe is for some more time.

FCing happens a lot with me to man. Especially after a call is over with. Then the SIM has to boot back up and IM on froyo 318

Same thing just happened with Dialer One as well!!! :-(

Will try what Cue_32 suggested the next time it happens!

I had the same problem. I was with 1.6.1. Now I switch back to stock rom.

Also I found two bugs for 1.6.1 when using higher lcd density than 160:

1. the menu bar will be at a total black background, it is impossible to read the menu

2. the phone (not the dialer, I replaced the dialer with dialer one) layout is incorrect.

I also have this exact same problem, and I've had this issue on like every version since 1.4something. It's really upsetting. I've considered ditching my streak over this.

Just face it and be honest, v1.6.0 onwards is not stable as the previous versions. Let hope 1.70 will bring better compatibility & stability.

Ok, I think the issue might be fixed with 1.7.0! Haven't had a single FC with the phone app since upgrading to 1.7.0!!!!
