Guest ravendagrey Posted February 3, 2011 Report Posted February 3, 2011 (edited) Hi Guys, I am still really new at this I have the Acer Liquid E 512mb I have nandroid backups of my official rogers froyo rom, and now roggin's cm7_0.3 rom, My rogers rom is extreamly stable no issues what so ever but it's really slow (quadrant score of 630) Now my Roggins CM7_0.3 rom is amazing, its fast, setcpu works so I can clock it at the full 998mhz (quadrant score of 903) but the rom still appears to have issues and crashes now and then (hell sometimes my phone isn't usable the notifacation menu will drop down randomly and then buttons will randomly be pressed and its extreamly annoying when texting) so I'm looking for a stable rom and great quadrant scores any suggestions? Right now I'm gonna try the: 4.002.14.EMEA.GEN1_A22F_A_bin with the proformance patch Edited February 3, 2011 by ravendagrey
Guest fear_factory84 Posted February 3, 2011 Report Posted February 3, 2011 using lcr-f 2.0 and t&l 1600 patch (see the lcr-f thread), I have 1200 score on quadrand with stock acer kernel on my liquid A1 (half ram than yours). Perhaps quadrant is not too much indicative....

WTH!!!Where the patch???you mean you can get 1200+ on quardant @768mhz???if oc to 998,it seens will get 1400+???my highest score on quardant is 1396with cm6.1

Perhaps quadrant is not too much indicative.... Holy crap that's fast, I'm using the cm 7 from roggins top and my quadrant is 710. I don't notice any lash at all and I have only had a few issues. Just set up and nandroid with everything all setup, then backup your sms ange flash if you have any issues. Really like cm 7.
Guest ravendagrey Posted February 3, 2011 Report Posted February 3, 2011 Thanks for fast fast reply I really notice the difference using psx4droid, it's almost unusable using the roger's rom with roggin's cm7_0.3 it plays great (630 vs 903 quadrant score). I also have my cpu unlocked to 998mhz vs the stock 768mhz. I am gonna try the lcr rom now thanks

Guest Delnar_Ersike Posted February 3, 2011 Report Posted February 3, 2011 (edited) Goddammit, Quadrant scores don't mean a thing, when will you guys learn?! I remember getting 1300 Quadrant scores on some 2.1 ROMs, but were they faster than the ones that got 900? No, they weren't. Quadrant's benchmarking mode is messed up, and if you really want to compare your device's performance with others', you should use something else instead, like Smartbench 2010. Oh, and if you're looking for performance, right now, T&L is, on average, faster than LCR 2.0. And I don't need Quadrant scores to reinforce or deny my experience with both ROMs. Edited February 3, 2011 by Delnar_Ersike

Guest ravendagrey Posted February 3, 2011 Report Posted February 3, 2011 ok smart bench 2010 shows LCR F 2.0 (768mhz) 774/785 Roggin's CM7 0.3 (998mhz) 919/768 Roger's official Froyo (768mhz) 512/614 Now I can't seem to get my cpu unlocked to 998mhz with the lcr rom any tips for that?
Guest monoxide.tryst Posted February 3, 2011 Report Posted February 3, 2011 Now I can't seem to get my cpu unlocked to 998mhz with the lcr rom any tips for that? Last I had checked, LCR wasnt using an overclock kernel.
Guest ravendagrey Posted February 3, 2011 Report Posted February 3, 2011 (edited) installed cpuboost lite new smartbench 2010 results LCR F 2.0 851/856 changed to proformance mode and changed max clock to 998mhz but can't be sure if it took (smartbench reported it as 700mhz) Edited February 3, 2011 by ravendagrey
Guest jayziac Posted February 3, 2011 Report Posted February 3, 2011 I've been running FroyoMetal (v2.5) for a while now, it's stable and smooth, everything works (+ gingerbread keyboard). I applied the performance patch by Acer for FET 4.003.xx, some have said it doesn't actually apply any patches to the ROM because the file versions don't match, but I noticed I'm getting quadrant scores of 1700+ now (vs 1200 just EMEA_4.002.14 + FroyoMetal). I didn't notice anything different in usual apps, it's just as smooth as before, so there's probably something wrong with quadrant benchmarks.
Guest xdxdxdxdxdx Posted February 4, 2011 Report Posted February 4, 2011 (edited) for smartbench 2010.it is 999/[email protected] 1036mhz.anybody higher than me or it not exist…… Edited February 4, 2011 by xdxdxdxdxdx
Guest Delnar_Ersike Posted February 4, 2011 Report Posted February 4, 2011 for smartbench 2010.it is 999/[email protected] 1036mhz.anybody higher than me or it not exist…… I remember getting 1036/1124 on T&L with koudelka's patch applied over thepasto's overclocked-kernel-containing boot.img. However, I don't recommend anyone using it for day-to-day use, as the headset doesn't work in the current latest iteration. As for setting the device to "performance mode", changing the CPU governor is still possible even if overclocking isn't (which is why "setting" the frequency to 900 doesn't work, it still says 768). You can change the CPU governor in SetCPU, too, BTW, no need to install another overclocking app. The default governor is ondemand, which means that the phone stays at the lowest CPU frequency possible (245Mhz by default, IIRC) unless CPU usage starts peaking, in which case it will jump to a higher frequency, and when the CPU becomes idle, it goes back to a lower frequency. You can, of course, set the governor to performance, which means the device will probably stay at the highest frequency most of the time, though you'll probably notice a drastically reduced battery life because of this.

Guest fragmat Posted February 4, 2011 Report Posted February 4, 2011 (edited) I don't get at ? How it's possible? ROM LCR 2.0 result Qadrant 984 Smartbench 796/835 ROM LCR 2.0 + 1600 t&l patch result Qadrant 1513 Smartbench 685/719 Are you kidding me? Smartbench wrong? Or wrong Qadrant? p/s don't say me it's once test, a repeated thrice! Edited February 4, 2011 by fragmat
Guest TheShak Posted February 4, 2011 Report Posted February 4, 2011 I find MIUI pretty stable and good battery life... I run it 998Mhz OC without any issues. I did not do any performance tests as I believe its in "the eye of the beholder"... Cheers
Guest HustlinDaily Posted February 5, 2011 Report Posted February 5, 2011 Are you kidding me? Smartbench wrong? Or wrong Qadrant? p/s don't say me it's once test, a repeated thrice! I noticed the exact same thing and restored my Nandroid immediately. I think Acer found some cheat within Quadrant and released a patch to do it. Smartbench is more accurate IMO (at least real world values tend to agree with me there).
Guest HustlinDaily Posted February 5, 2011 Report Posted February 5, 2011 Fragmat, ask yourself this: Does your phone feel faster with the 1600 Quadrant Patch? For me, it felt slower and Smartbench proved that it was slower.
Guest jayziac Posted February 5, 2011 Report Posted February 5, 2011 I think Quadrant benchmark isn't reliable anymore. For reference, my A1 running at stock 768Mhz FroyoMetal has smartbench of 808/839.
Guest Koki1337 Posted February 5, 2011 Report Posted February 5, 2011 None of the benchmarkers tell how well is the phone performing. Instead, why running a live wallpaper and scroll around with full fledge transition animations. Does it lag?
Guest Delnar_Ersike Posted February 6, 2011 Report Posted February 6, 2011 None of the benchmarkers tell how well is the phone performing. Instead, why running a live wallpaper and scroll around with full fledge transition animations. Does it lag? All live wallpapers cause lag, as they take up extra memory and force the device to update the background n times every second. Usually a live wallpaper that doesn't update 30 times a second will neither slow down the device as much nor consume as much extra battery power. For example, most of the default live wallpapers (Grass, Polar Clock, Galaxy) and the downloadable Substrate Live Wallpapers are actually good enough to use, while some others (Water, Nexus, most of the downloadable live wallpapers) noticeably slow down the device. Using certain launchers can also change the performance of live wallpapers; for example, in my experience, ADW Launcher was faster when using most live wallpapers than LauncherPro.
Guest ravendagrey Posted February 7, 2011 Report Posted February 7, 2011 Thanks guys, I've been using LCR F 2.0 for a few days now and so far decent battery, good proformance with psx4droid and its pretty stable, so far all my apps work, the only issues I've had so far was barcode scanner crashed (removed and reinstalled fixed the issue) Marketplace stars are funny (not a big deal, just don't try to reflash gapps marketplace wont work at all) and blu-ray rips wont play (doesn't surprise me dvd rips work great haven't tried digital copy yet, waiting for my 32gb card to arrive in the mail). So I'm pretty happy with it for now but if anyone has any other suggestions or comes up with LCR F 2.0 with overclocking kernel please let me know.
