Guest TonyA Posted February 3, 2011 Report Posted February 3, 2011 Well now have a car vent mount, GPS receiver that works here in scotland and all this runs perfectly with my BT Audio in the car. Setup is as follows:- Keyring Bluetooth® GPS Receiver - £34.99 UltimateAddons Professional Vent Attachment - £7.99 UltimateAddons Adjustable Holder Mount for Apple iPAD - £12.99 CoPilot Live - UK + Ireland - £22.98 1A Regulated Car Power Adaptor - £12.99 Bluetooth GPS - £0.00 I can confirm all of the above work and fit great in my Mazda 3 sports. Have the vega mounted so its below the windscreen and obviously only using GPS while moving, Internet and films when at side of road and not at home. I tried the cheap £5 wayfinder GPS but cant pickup a satellite here, would rather have the £35 one as it pickes up signal in less than 3 secs and ive not lost the signal yet, will use for a 4 hour journey this weekend so will post more feedback on Monday/Tuesday. Setup is Advent paired to GPS, Advent connected to GPS with Bluetooth GPS, Advent paried to car stereo, San Francisco set to enable wifi tethering Advent connected to Wifi of mobile Advent playing music Advent running CoPilot, When music is playing it is muted (not paused) for the duration of that instruction Now next thing to do is see if there is an FM Transmitter in the vega or a bluetooth one that i could connect to the vega and have the radio if i want (dont want to use live streaming due to data costs) Hope this is usefull for anyone, I know it could be done cheaper but i have bought it all and it all works fine ;) ;) :D

Have tested the same setup with the Mrs holding the Vega. Really not too confident that a car mount (sucker or vent type) would hold the weight (700g) of the vega - especially turning corners / bumps etc...

I have just recieved my £5 Wayfinder from eBay 250760777266 , fantastic price and FREE carriage, works perfectly. I even found my way home from work using it.... Works with Car Home, Google Maps, had hoped to try NDrive (Use this on my iPhone) but it seems very flakey so uninstalled it, and co-pilot is a bit pricy... we will see. Also bought a mains charger 200566389370 @ £7.99 and doesnt upset the screen at all, a car charger also from the same seller 200566390019 @ £6.99. Regards Steve

I tried the wayfider but no signal, only place close by that sells this sort of thing is maplin so not much choice. Was going to get the car charger of ebay too but i wanted it that day and im an impatient bugger so maplin had to do lol Would love to see a pic of this in action. Will get a few pics for putting up ;), I was sceptical about the vent mount as well but thats why i went for the pro version (plus it was the only one in stock haha). There are quite few speed bumps here and its quprising how well it copes. Only problem is the vega can only be put in the holder in landscape but its better for viewing that way as well.
Guest trevor432990 Posted February 4, 2011 Report Posted February 4, 2011 @TonyA I've found that the Wayfinder can take a long time to acquire satellite signals but once locked it is pretty solid thereafter but it's only a temporary device until I eventually upgrade my phone to 3G and tethering for GPS data.

Well, that's what I could foresee if I done that anyway.

It was on for 40 mins before i gave up. Live up in dundee so could be the area, maplin one picked up in 10 secs. Pics or it didn't happen! ;) P On way if it works with tethering hehe - wont upload so will do it tomorrow when in costa or so. How's the viewing angles? P I found them fine, can be a bit hard in the daylight but as ive got tinted windows in back it was fine, plus not any sun.
Guest TonyA Posted February 4, 2011 Report Posted February 4, 2011 One worked with the San Fran direct Wobbling wasn't bad at all on drive from Dundee to Newcastle, never had a worry that it would fall

Mine displays full screen and is version 8.2.0.218 with EU maps.
Guest TonyA Posted February 5, 2011 Report Posted February 5, 2011 Using version 8 can make full screen but I like the info bar

Guest QLF Posted February 7, 2011 Report Posted February 7, 2011 One worked with the San Fran direct Wobbling wasn't bad at all on drive from Dundee to Newcastle, never had a worry that it would fall lol - just the other side of the Golf Club from me :P The upsidedown map (relative to google maps) threw me for a bit - was looking on the wrong side of the Kingsway. Small World!
Guest Zero_uk Posted June 22, 2011 Report Posted June 22, 2011 Does this wobble like mad when driving along or is it ok? Unsure between this one and one that sucks to the window thanks
