Guest .stu Posted February 3, 2011 Report Posted February 3, 2011 When I play any audio through the speakers it sounds really distorted like a cheap transistor radio. Is this normal?

No not normal. For size of device I would say that speaker sound is pretty good (certainly a lot less tinny than my netbook). Get good stereo separation as well.

I just had a closer listen with some mono mp3s and it seems it's just the right speaker that is distorted. What with the Bluetooth/wifi issue I think I'm gonna request a refund and wait to see what comes in the next few months… as long as the missus doesn't spend the money in the meantime. ;)
Guest English Haze Posted February 4, 2011 Report Posted February 4, 2011 (edited) I don't think the sound is that great personally. My San Francisco handset sounds better! I plug into the home theatre system via HDMI to get the best sound. The built in speakers are pretty crappy. Edited February 4, 2011 by English Haze
Guest trevor432990 Posted February 4, 2011 Report Posted February 4, 2011 Think you have to accept the rough with the smooth on the Vega and for the money I think it's still the best value on the market currently ;)

I'm with you on that - I think the quality from the speakers is pretty poor, I hook it up to my home system too, I only use the speakers to listen to the footie - music wise it's not good.
Guest extrememonkey Posted February 4, 2011 Report Posted February 4, 2011 It's about as good as any netbook/laptop.... Unless designed specifically for music and media!!! If you want better sound quality you need to hook it up to some external speakers or better still to a home theatre system via hdmi....

Guest .stu Posted February 4, 2011 Report Posted February 4, 2011 I didn't really expect audiophile quality from the vega, which is why it took me so long to realise that the distorted audio might actually be down to a defective unit, but now I know it's faulty it makes sense to get it fixed.
Guest .stu Posted February 4, 2011 Report Posted February 4, 2011 Took it in to my local currys and they refunded me. Gonna wait to see what comes out in the next few months -hopefully the missus won't spend the money first...
