Guest chewy2087 Posted February 6, 2011 Report Posted February 6, 2011 Hello everyone, I have spent days looking for an answer to my problem with no luck at all. I have a HTC Desire (o2 network) that I debranded and now has image 2.29.405.2. I have a problem with my phone (external speaker fault) and need to send it back to o2 but need to restore the original stock rom either 2.1 or 2.2 would do for warranty purposes. I cant seem to find an easy answer to this and have tried to downgrade to a stock o2 rom through HTC rom utility but get the [140] bootloader error. I am guessing that i cant downgrade to a older image using the utility. Is there another way I can restore my desire with the factory software? Can anyone help me with this problem?? Sorry if this has already been covered but I cant seem to find the topic anywhere!! Please help... Regards Steve
Guest no-ice Posted February 6, 2011 Report Posted February 6, 2011 i take it you didnt do a backup first before installing another rom?
Guest EddyOS Posted February 6, 2011 Report Posted February 6, 2011 (edited) Follow this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=768256 The get the o2 FroYo RUU and flash it: http://shipped-roms.com/download.php?categ...4166_signed.exe (bare in mind this can fail to download fully so the full file should be around 171MB) Edited February 6, 2011 by EddyOS
Guest no-ice Posted February 6, 2011 Report Posted February 6, 2011 or this is probably similar http://theunlockr.com/2010/06/07/how-to-un...the-htc-desire/
Guest EddyOS Posted February 6, 2011 Report Posted February 6, 2011 That won't work as you first need to get to a version below the 0.93 HBOOT, which is when the guide I posted will work

I used unrevoked and this asks for a gold card. CAn I create a gold card now that it's been rooted? I take it the gold card is unique to the individual phone as well? I ask as I have another desire as well and have the gold card for that but it's from another network. Thank you for any reply :P

Thank you for any reply :P ยด Gold card is not unique for a certain phone, you can use it on whatever (Android) phone you like to root/unroot/brick...lol sorry I made a goldcard for an HTC Hero and have used the same GC later for a Desire...
Guest EddyOS Posted February 8, 2011 Report Posted February 8, 2011 As said the gold card is unique to the SD card NOT the phone. And yes, you can make it when rooted as the phone is irrelevant :P
Guest chewy2087 Posted February 9, 2011 Report Posted February 9, 2011 Follow this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=768256 The get the o2 FroYo RUU and flash it: http://shipped-roms.com/download.php?categ...4166_signed.exe (bare in mind this can fail to download fully so the full file should be around 171MB) EddyOS, I just wanted to thank you for your quick reply and apologise for my slow one. Followed the guide and had a few problems with running the file in windows 7 as it couldnt locate the abd. I then only used CMD and went to the directory where the downgrade files were located and everything worked fine. Flashed the o2 2.1 RUU and its ready to be returned back to workshops to sort out my speaker problem out. Thanks again Steve
Guest chewy2087 Posted February 10, 2011 Report Posted February 10, 2011 No I flashed 2.1 as I have a friend who's on o2 and he still hasnt had the froyo update. Didnt want to rouse suspicion so to speak when I return the phone.
Guest EddyOS Posted February 10, 2011 Report Posted February 10, 2011 Why, the 2.2 update was rolled out so it is being used by o2 customers - it wouldn't have made an difference
