Can't Overclock Past 600mhz

Hey all,

Long time reader, first time poster.

I have installed the excellent custom ROM FLB-Froyo G2 - http://android.modaco.com/content/zte-blad...-for-zte-blade/

and found it very nice. No problems at all.

This is my first time overclocking though.

I chose this ROM as it says - "Custom FLB kernel providing CIFS, TUN, EXT4 support and performance tweaks". I am assuming that everything here is correct and allows me to install setcpu and start to dabble with clock speeds.

However, i don't get any settings to allow me to go higher than 600mhz, that is all the slider will go to. Using setcpu 2.1.0. (i also tried cpuboost and have the same problem)

Do i have to do anything extra to my Kernal to allow me to clock at higher speeds.

Sorry if this is a nub question, and thanks in advance to all help offerered :P

Thanks for the fast reply.

Is there any way i can overclock using the ROM i have already installed.

Although i appreciate Jellyfish is also excellent, i have just spent the last 2 hours installing the new ROM and getting all my apps back on my phone and would rather not go through the whole process again if possible :P

The problem is the kernel needs to support the higher clockspeeds. If you can get kallte kaffe (jellyfish rom creator) to share his kernel changes for overclocking flibblesan would be happy to implement it in his rom.

It would only need to be a boot.img update too we wouldn't need to reflash our rom. Just need him to share his changes.

Darn.

Well i guess alot of people have requested for him to do this, so i guess my own request would fall on deaf ears.

I might have to install Jellyfish then. If only to staisfy my curiosity.

Angry Birds Seasons level 25 sure does slow down.

Under the GPL he is required to release the source code of his kernel.

Correct, but so far nothing :P

I've not released any code since my kernel doesn't actually involve any code changes. But when I get overclocking sorted I'll publish changes.

He has put out his overclocking code in the past, he had it as a bundle of fixes that also added support for the LCD screens... however since I was only after the LCD support part I deleted the overclocking fixes...

Dont ask me where, but its on the forum here somewhere....

Somewhere else he as also posted his changes to the 2.6.29 kernel

Yeah I'm not overly bothered about the eclair kernel :P

Does mean a boot.img update for us FLB users? :P

Ooooh yes please.

@flibblesan - if you make this possible in your next rom release i think i might have to jump for joy, and send you some beers :D

I like your rom version, it's neat, simple, got the necessities but gets rid of the crap. I read somewhere you did something that put the screen load onto the gpu instead of the processor (no, i don't know wtf i'm talking about lol), whatever you did, it definately made the screen more responsive, thats why i like your rom.

Anyway, here's hoping to an overclocking kernel feature sometime soon !
