Guest ZTE Posted February 7, 2011 Report Posted February 7, 2011 I noticed that the time on my SF (giffgaff) is different to my daughters HTC Desire (Orange), mine is about 1 minute ahead. Checked with GMT and my giffgaff time is indeed just over 1 minute fast. Anyone else got that? Pretty trivial I know, but curious. :P Cheers...
Guest Plxply Posted February 7, 2011 Report Posted February 7, 2011 I've never really used the network time, I use a root application known as Clocksync which will automatically sync your clock with your local NTP server. http://www.appbrain.com/app/clocksync/ru.org.amip.ClockSync It's probably one of the simplest and most clean free applications I've used on Android (No advertisements at all and excellent functionality).

Guest lordofangels Posted February 7, 2011 Report Posted February 7, 2011 it absolutely is, I missed the last bus a few weeks ago because of it! auto time update function, will not work on giffgaff
Guest ZTE Posted February 7, 2011 Report Posted February 7, 2011 auto time update function, will not work on giffgaff Why not?
Guest nellster Posted February 7, 2011 Report Posted February 7, 2011 Yeh my time is a little fast. Gains about a min per month. On giffgaff. Running 2.2 Clocksync locksup on mine. Worked once then boom no go.
Guest lordofangels Posted February 7, 2011 Report Posted February 7, 2011 Why not? o2 don't offer this feature
Guest RottenFoxBreath Posted February 7, 2011 Report Posted February 7, 2011 Clocksync locksup on mine. Worked once then boom no go. Go into superuser, select Clocksync, then select "forget", then go into settings, applications, manage applications, and force close it, then run it again, and it will work. After you run it once, and it works, just close it in manage applications, and it will work next time. Seems to be an issue with the app, but the dev hasn't updated it for this yet.
Guest ZTE Posted February 7, 2011 Report Posted February 7, 2011 o2 don't offer this feature So, are you saying that despite having the phone set to use 'network-provided values', the clock is free running? :P
Guest lordofangels Posted February 7, 2011 Report Posted February 7, 2011 So, are you saying that despite having the phone set to use 'network-provided values', the clock is free running? :P yes, exactly right, try it it will lose or gain, try the app above, worked great for me from day one with my blade
Guest Plxply Posted February 7, 2011 Report Posted February 7, 2011 If anyone is interested it is NITZ that allows your phone to sync the time with the operator. Most mobile operators within the UK don't support it apart from Orange as far as I know. It's mostly for places like America where the country has multiple time zones so that your phone can adjust whilst travelling.
