Guest 2old2mould Posted February 7, 2011 Report Posted February 7, 2011 Hi All, I had a senior moment over the weekend when I tried to flash R7 while the device was in standard Vega recovery. The result was BSOD. As I keep my device fairly lean this was not a big issue as I was able to reflash stock 1.08. Once 1.08 was settled in (30min wait, a couple of power off/on cycles) I connected the device to my Vista machine and quite successfully pushed the R7 ROM using windows command prompt/adb. About 30 minutes later I decided to apply CWM manually (the only way I know how) by opening a command prompt and using the instructions provided by Paul on the CWM thread (possibly where this should be posted but at about a million pages long I doubt I'd get a fast response :P ). I did this while the device was plugged in, had USB debugging on, was in Slave Mode and with storage both turned on and off. Android Composite ADB Device shows in Device Manager. I just could not get the img pushed across. I kept receiving something along the lines of 'text at 0x2331 not available for this application'. I even tried using a Win7 starter netbook which has worked like a charm when Vista has let me down but on this occasion has failed in exactly the same way. I am doing it right aren't I... I'm starting to doubt myself lol! I have another Win7 laptop that I will try again on tonight but before I do I'd be grateful for any hints or tips where I may be going wrong. Thanks y'all. 2o2m.
Guest T4ylor Posted February 7, 2011 Report Posted February 7, 2011 (edited) I didnt and still dont understand adb so i intalled CWM as per the instructions from Simonta in the thread below and it worked at treat. CWM Edited February 7, 2011 by T4ylor

CWM @ 2old2mould :P If doing this, make sure to replace the recovery with the newest one from here: http://android.modaco.com/content/advent-v...he-advent-vega/ And also flash the MCK (kernel) from here: http://android.modaco.com/content/advent-v...he-advent-vega/ The instructions for flashing the kernel are similar to what you've done already: change 'recovery' to 'boot' and 'recovery.img' to 'boot.img' Or just follow Paul's instructions. After that, there should be no more BSOD's.
Guest 2old2mould Posted February 7, 2011 Report Posted February 7, 2011 @ T4ylor - Thanks for that, will try the zip file tonight and see how we go. I may try the more traditional method first on my other Win7 laptop. @ HunteronX - Thanks for that also... I'll check to ensure I have the latest CWM version, as I'm running 1.08 + R7 I assume I already have the updated Kernel? Ta, 2o2m.
Guest secondton Posted February 7, 2011 Report Posted February 7, 2011 Thanks for this. It worked a treat for me. It's great to have Clockwork installed.
