Guest jtc42 Posted February 7, 2011 Report Posted February 7, 2011 Hi, I know this sounds like a really n00bish question but hear me out. Really odd, basically I have a HUGE amount of dust trapped under my screen, it follows a pattern though. Theres loads around the buttons (probably from gaps around the button bar), and loads emanating from the top left corner. It kinda disperses though, so it's really dense, sometimes unbarably so, right on the corner, and dissipates towards the middle of the screen. I'm fairly sure it's due to the hit-and-miss build quality of the phone, but is there any way to get between the layers of the case to clean the screen off? I heard somewhere the screen is attached to the front plate by glue so removing it is near enough impossible. Is this true? Thanks.

Guest jtc42 Posted February 7, 2011 Report Posted February 7, 2011 >.< Gah I dont actually have a screwdriver thats small enough will enough torque to even get the back screws off. I can live with the dust I guess haha.

If I thought I'd get an OLED one back, I might think about it, but I love this screen so much I wouldnt wanna risk it :/
Guest jtc42 Posted February 21, 2011 Report Posted February 21, 2011 Sorry to revive a kinda dead thread, but what size screwdriver does it require? Theyre in seriously tight and I cannot for the life of me get any of them even loosened :D Dust is really annoying me now.
Guest ricer Posted February 21, 2011 Report Posted February 21, 2011 A screen replacement screwdriver I had fitted fine (3mm), and the screws weren't particularly tight either, if any thing they were a bit loose!

Torx or Phillips? Im gonna have to buy online, don't have anything in the house thatll do it >.< Edited February 21, 2011 by jtc42
Guest ricer Posted February 21, 2011 Report Posted February 21, 2011 The ones on the back are all Philips, and theres quite a few of them and some under some stickers. I suggest you check a dismantling guide to make sure but the ones I see are Philips.
Guest jtc42 Posted February 22, 2011 Report Posted February 22, 2011 Im guessing that removing the back voids the warranty then? Just discovered the white sticker of impending doom O.o
Guest Oyorf Posted February 23, 2011 Report Posted February 23, 2011 I had also a lot of dust in the screen. Just opened the phone and cleaned that. It was actually pretty easy. Only those 8 little screws had to be opened. I bough some kit from dealextreme with lots of very small screwdriver heads, it was like 5$ and with that it's possible to open almost everything.

Isn't one screw under that white ceramic tamperproof thing though? Much as I love it, its not the most reliable phone so I'd rather keep the warranty intact :/

I think that you can not really see if it's taken away and put back, actually I think it will come off on it's own anyway after like 1 year or so when the clue is old enough not to hold it anymore. The one on mine seems to be tamperproof, it cracked when i touched it and seems to be unpeelable ceramic stuff O.o
Guest Oyorf Posted February 23, 2011 Report Posted February 23, 2011 The one on mine seems to be tamperproof, it cracked when i touched it and seems to be unpeelable ceramic stuff O.oI have Saunalahti Blade, so I guess it can be different in other Blades then.
Guest jtc42 Posted February 23, 2011 Report Posted February 23, 2011 I have Saunalahti Blade, so I guess it can be different in other Blades then. Orange are being totally useless. Apparently it might not be covered, even though it's a manufacturing defect, it's not actually broken so it's not covered. And even if it is, they say Ill have to get a TFT version as a replacement. Surely thats against trading standards? I bought OLED, the warranty is for OLED, so I'd expect a fixed OLED version back :s
Guest jtc42 Posted February 25, 2011 Report Posted February 25, 2011 Just thought Id update you all. Using a tool constructed from a post it note and a flat ended screwdriver, I removed the tamper-proof sticker with minimal damage (you could tell its been removed if you really tried but it's still there at least) and cleaned the screen successfully. Mission accomplished. Thanks all
Guest Phoenix Silver Posted February 26, 2011 Report Posted February 26, 2011 off topic perhaps but can you install a oled screen in a tft model ? or you have to replace the motherboard too ??
Guest fonix232 Posted February 26, 2011 Report Posted February 26, 2011 off topic perhaps but can you install a oled screen in a tft model ? or you have to replace the motherboard too ?? Yes you can, Paul did it (white OLED SF  ), as the whole screen control system is on the back of the panel. All you have to do is to connect the cable and done.

Guest theoscat Posted April 14, 2011 Report Posted April 14, 2011 i removed the screen on two SFs (uk oled, austrian lcd) and had no problems at all :) try it with the following guide ZTE_Blade_Inside.pdf after i disassemble and pump the dust off the oled panel, and i ressembled it and turned out the display is irresponsive, and the physical buttons are fine, is there any way to perform a self check by mself? thanks

I have exactly the same problem, cleared the dust and now the screen is totally unresponsive! thanks
Guest Quu Posted May 20, 2011 Report Posted May 20, 2011 just take it apart and assemble again. repeat until it works. connector-cable-thing is poop, applying piece of paper between connector and cable makes it work better..

Thanks for the answer, I have tried it a couple of times. Maybe I need to try a couple more times and possibly try your paper trick.
