Hi all, in USA, what is the cheapest option to get a data plan working on the Dell Streak mini 5? I suppose it has to be either Tmobile or ATT. Right now, I am using WIFI only but would like a cheap data plan (around $30 or less) option if possible. Thanks.

If you want a voice plan to go with that data plan, AT&T has 2GB of data for $25, and 200MB for $15... T-Mobile has unlimited data for $30 and 200MB for $10 but it'll only work on EDGE speeds for the Dell Streak since it only has the AT&T radio frequencies...

If you just want a data plan without the voice plan, T-Mobile has unlimited for $50, I'm not sure about AT&T

AK, thanks for the input. The $25 for 2GB sounds good but I guess you gotta pay voice on top of that as well then, making it probably over $65 I suppose. How about a prepaid data plan or something?

I'm sure you can get a SIM card and get a prepaid plan, although just be careful because your data allowance can expire if you don't keep buying data.

Sorry to hijack this thread but I am off to the US soon and I thought someone here may have some advice.

I just want to use my Streak for data over there. Can I get a SIM out there for data only or do I ask orange UK to give me an international bundle (v. expensive!?)

Thanks for all advice!

Well, your first problem is the incompatible 3g bands, so you'll only have edge speeds. If your phone is unlocked you can get unlimited data here: http://www.iphonetrip.com/ but again, no 3g speeds.

if you can get someone to activate you a galaxy tab plan or an ipad plan, they have a 2 gig for $25 plan, no voice required and its prepaid no contract

I tried asking the rep at the ATT store today to set me up with the galaxy tab plan with 2gb at $25 on the Dell Streak mini 5 but it was a no go. Their reason was that they can't activate the sim card in their computer and that iPad or Galaxy Tab is activated on itself and not by computer.

I'd just call around until you get someone to do it, frankly its kinda bogus they wont do a "PDA" data plan, seeing as its a AT&T locked "Tablet" as marked on the box... The normal $15/$25 should be available on anything with or without voice (in a perfect world)... Can you use a sim card thats provisioned for a iPad? I thought I heard some time ago that you could use a MicroSim provisioned for a iPad in anything, when I read up on it this morning, it seems that you can't.
