Guest O. M. Loony Posted February 8, 2011 Report Posted February 8, 2011 (edited) I just spotted this and thought it might be of interest to some of you. Apparently it's a "Smart Netphone", which is something to do with a project to make a multi-platform application development thingy. The phone's clearly a rebranded ZTE Blade, though, and interestingly this one's apparently running Froyo as standard. What do you guys think? edit - I edited the topic title to include the crucial element - that this version allegedly runs an official Froyo build. Edited February 8, 2011 by O. M. Loony

Guest The Soup Thief Posted February 8, 2011 Report Posted February 8, 2011 Interesting indeedy Are they basically trying to push the idea of pushing mobile internet devices to pass information / web apps in a lingua franca interpretable by all devices regardless of OS, brand etc So a bit like the internet does with agreed web standards? Anyway, you're both right - it is a blade w 2.2, so that's good :P
Guest Victor von Zeppelin Posted February 8, 2011 Report Posted February 8, 2011 "As for the handset itself, it’s running Android 2.2 Froyo" Interesting, considering phones appearing at MWC are expected to be sold in Europe, and this could therefore be the first real European 2.2 Rom...
Guest ninzor Posted February 8, 2011 Report Posted February 8, 2011 (edited) Indeed - I think we're going to get an official Froyo rom from that device. Edited February 8, 2011 by ninzor
Guest O. M. Loony Posted February 8, 2011 Report Posted February 8, 2011 Indeed - I think we're going to get an official Froyo rom from that device. I certainly hope so, though I couldn't claim to know enough about the technical side of things to be sure. Still, the appearance of a ZTE Blade that's shipped with Froyo must be a positive sign.
Guest Sebastian404 Posted February 8, 2011 Report Posted February 8, 2011 I'm going to MWC. I'll see if i can find the time to visit them and see if I can blag an 'engineering sample" (only reason a lot of people go)

Guest Simon O Posted February 9, 2011 Report Posted February 9, 2011 I suspect, because I read the article, that this device is aimed at the Philippine market. I do like the contact widget they have there with the friend stream.
Guest Phoenix Silver Posted February 9, 2011 Report Posted February 9, 2011 smart looks a lot better than the ugly orange logo
Guest FelixL Posted February 15, 2011 Report Posted February 15, 2011 http://www.engadget.com/photos/zte-amigo-b...nds-on/#3885789 2.2!
Guest CRIS.F.7 Posted February 15, 2011 Report Posted February 15, 2011 Sweet! A Blade built 2.2, with the added bonus of no orange bloatware :D ! Any idea when this will be out and we can take advantage?
