Hi,

I'm new and I hope you can help me solve this problem ..

I bought a new mobile phone from ZTE Blade OK .- mobile.

After many miles to get back home I tried to turn it on, but crashed immediately on the Orange logo and does not seem to do anything else .. I waited 30 minutes, but nothing .. I have to remove the battery to shut it down.

If I press the volume down and turn on the phone he stops on the screen FTM.

The phone has never started so I can not install programs such as AppManager or recovery tool or another.

What can I do?

Is there a way to try to reset it with a combination of keys or reload the ROM simply by putting it on the memory card?

If it can help .. perhaps to recover a backup, a friend of mine has the same phone, but its working well and he has not yet changed rom or other

Thank you

Hi

Sorry to hear you've had such a shaky start

First, are you sure there's sufficient charge in the battery (probably this isn't the problem, but best rule that out)

Assuming it's not that, the old approach to flashing new ROMs using fastboot might be sensible here, if you're not able to get clockwork onto the phone any other way

This is the one I used when I first got my phone

It's a bit complex and you'll need to read it through a few times before using it particularly if English isn't your L1

It's the 5th in Steven Harper's excellent guide (5. How to Install Clockwork using Fastboot)

From that point once you have clockworkmod recovery on the phone you can install a new ROM. Personally the way I did this first time was to just copy the ROM on to the sd manually with the pc:

  1. switch off the phone,
  2. take out the microSD
  3. put it in my PC
  4. copied the new ROM onto the microSD
  5. unmount the microSD from the PC
  6. put the SD back in the phone
  7. turned the phone on with volume held down (to boot into clockwork)
  8. go to install new rom from zip
etc

Good luck

by the way - there's a new version of clockwork available now which you might want to install instead of 2.5.1.8 - version 3.0.0.5 is here

All the ROMS are here, by the way

Surely if the phone is dead on arrival its better to send it back than modify it and then have to explain to orange that it wasn't your modifications that broke it?? :P

Hi,

sorry for the delay, but I've been very busy.

In any case, the phone now works perfectly.

I followed what you said, but instead of installing a new rom I loaded up the backup of the settings of the phone of my friend and after the reboot the phone started to work.

After that I cleared the cache and performed a hard reset.

Thank you so much for the help!

Last question .. I saw that on the ZTE's website there's an official update to 2.2 but I believe that to be installed it needs to be compiled.. Can you tell me if there is a guide that explains how to do it? I could not find anything ...

ZTE Service Bulletins

Thank you again

By the sounds of it we will be getting an official orange 2.2 update :P

But we already have "perfect" 2.2 roms already available
