Guest yvalchev Posted February 9, 2011 Report Posted February 9, 2011 Hi, Is it possible to use dial-up connection instead USB tethering with froyo JF9 ROM. In original stock Orange 2.1 ROM you can dial-up by calling *99# but after I put this new 2.2 rom dial-up is not working any more. May be number that I must call is different. The reason I ask for that is that i want to shear my 3G phone connection with my laptop. When I was with 2.1 i used dial-up for connection and once I dial, connection stay stable. When i go to 2.2 and make connection with USB tethering I lost internet after 2-3 minutes and only way to fix it is to turn off and on tethering (same problem with WIFI hotspot). The reason for that my be my 3G provider (not good connection) but with dial-up i did not have that problem. Previously I had HTC Tattoo android 1.6, and I have the same problem when shearing my connection. Every 2-3 minutes I plug and unplug my USB cable to reconnect. Any suggestions how to fix that problem or how to use dial-up with JF9 2.2 Android

Guest rjm2k Posted February 9, 2011 Report Posted February 9, 2011 As I mentioned in my post i have the same problem with WIFI tethering. Also WIFI tethering is not good for whole day work :P Battery goes down... Assuming windows, install the ZTE JoinMe software on your pc and enable USB tethering in the menu when your phone is connected to the pc. It will create an NDIS network connection for you, no dialup required just use the connection.
Guest Azurren Posted February 9, 2011 Report Posted February 9, 2011 Are you sure that it isn't a problem with your PC? Have you tried on another? I know you said it worked with dial-up but it doesn't hurt to try it :P

Guest yvalchev Posted February 9, 2011 Report Posted February 9, 2011 if *99# doesn't work it's perhaps you need chipertest.apk in /system/app several roms have deleted it May be that is good solution but from where I can get this chipertest.apk can somebody help. PP:I DL JoinMe but it does not help because I already use NDIS network connection for USB tethering PPP: May be the problem is with my PC but I need that connection to work with my PC and I cannot find way to fix my PC, but I know that dial-up works just fine with that PC :P
Guest Phoenix Silver Posted February 9, 2011 Report Posted February 9, 2011 here its is cost nothing to try :P ChiperTest.zip rename .zip into .apk
