Guest iliyawww Posted February 9, 2011 Report Posted February 9, 2011 (edited) Hello. Today's Chinese version website naryl Huawei information about release of new firmware for the analogue of 28.01.2011 our u8230/8220 they called C8600 ...For those interested in link http://www.huaweidevice.com/cn/productFeat...2&treeId=12 Can somebody naroet more information? May have one or whether the time difference is not strong, pokovyrât′ onlynetwork type: CDMA Rev A EVDO/1 x 800 m !! Edited February 9, 2011 by iliyawww
Guest AntonioPT Posted February 9, 2011 Report Posted February 9, 2011 This C8600 really looks like a U8230! :P I'm downloading the ROM now, and I will test it when it finishes downlading! Awesome! :D
Guest iliyawww Posted February 9, 2011 Report Posted February 9, 2011 Multitouch there, like gps too have. but it not install our 8220/8230. Works C8600 in other networks CDMA 2000. you can try to scratch-and-paste our radio module ...
Guest AntonioPT Posted February 9, 2011 Report Posted February 9, 2011 Well I have flashed system.img onto my phone and it bootloops (using the pulse's kernel). Logcat says it's a problem on the framework odex files, can't deodex them using baksmali. Using the boot.img from the updata.app, it doesn't get past the first boot image. upgradable_versions.txt doesn't list any U8220 or U8230 model and build.prop mentions a different chipset (msm7x25 IIRC), so I don't think we can use this rom on our phones.

The phone may look the same, but it isn't the same. I'll upload a rom dump (system + boot) in a few minutes.

That sounds great, the chassis looks exactly like U8230 and M860, maybe the touch firmware its the same. Can someone check it? Edited February 9, 2011 by Ramapitecus

Guest twrock Posted February 10, 2011 Report Posted February 10, 2011 I don't think there's only a slight difference. The phone may look the same, but it isn't the same. I'll upload a rom dump (system + boot) in a few minutes. Any news on that rom dump? Downloading the original looks like an all-day affair (12 KB/second.......................................................................... .....)
Guest iliyawww Posted February 10, 2011 Report Posted February 10, 2011 To prevent our 8230. Differences is just another processor andCDMA, can and shall get Multitouch camera and useful that there either.

Everything else is the same ...
Guest Simon O Posted February 10, 2011 Report Posted February 10, 2011 (edited) I downloaded this last night for a look, deodexed the framework and system apps and packaged it up. It most likely won't boot as it is but at least it'll let you guys have a play around and get something working? http://www.multiupload.com/NS1E85YGAC The minimum you'll need to do is replace the kernel and the ril libs. That should at least get it booting. BTW not sure what the base address is (was) for the U8230 but this kernel is: Attempting to determine kernel base address ... Using base address of 0x00200000 Attempting to determine command line parameter ... Using cmdline: mem=211M console=ttyMSM2,115200n8 androidboot.hardware=huawei console=ttyUSBCONSOLE0 androidboot.console=ttyUSBCONSOLE0[/code] Edited February 10, 2011 by flibblesan

Not that I can really do anything meaningful with it, but there just might be a "gem" in there that I can pick out. :P Edit: Yep, looks like there might just be an update HanvonCalla handwriting app in there. Hmm, wonder what else might be worth looking at. Edited February 10, 2011 by twrock
Guest Simon O Posted February 10, 2011 Report Posted February 10, 2011 It may be useful. Looks like it's build upon 2.2.1 and stagefright is fully enabled.
Guest al_3sjad Posted February 10, 2011 Report Posted February 10, 2011 More information : IDEOS U8150 is similar to U8230 and its coming with 2.2 for more information please visit this site http://www.omantel.net.om//OmanWebLib/Indi...&MenuId=228

Source has been available from Huawei since mid October (http://www.huaweidevice.com/tcpsdownload/downLoadCenter?category=&flay=software&fileName=101014093951.zip&attachmentName=kernel-2.6.32-U8150-Froyo.zip ) and rather than focusing on sorting multitouch, that front-facing camera and a newer kernel, we've gone the halfbaked 2.2/2.3 way. Not accusing anyone (great effort put in these attempts) but just saying. Edited February 11, 2011 by unp
Guest iKrautDroid Posted February 11, 2011 Report Posted February 11, 2011 Does this mean we get multitouch? I'd love to help but I'm no dev.

How much did you "mod" this? Obviously quite a bit from the looks of it. Is the stuff in /data your doing, or is that the way the rom came? Looks good, whatever you did. :P

Still this is exciting. Can we use it without source though. Sorry I don't really understand what the source does that the rom doesn't? Anyone understand russian - this site is talking about this with U8230. (what is a 'trial' rom anyway?) http://u8230.ru/forum/viewtopic.php?f=18&a...96&start=30 << sorry forgot to add link! Unlikely that the kernel itself will work so if you extract boot.img and replace the kernel with one that works then repackage it should at least boot.

I put in the 691 kernel, but it just stuck at ANDROID on boot. Maybe I should have tried the stock boot.img, but I can't think of a logical reason why that would matter. When you said ril libs, are you referring to the four specific /system/lib/ libs that have ril in the name? Or is it far beyond that? (Yes, I still don't know much.) :-)

(Yes, I still don't know much.) :-) Get it booting first with an alternative boot.img then you'll be able to see if the ril libs are working or not. It should be the 4 in /system/lib/ yeh. You might have to replace the wifi drivers too. Theres no guarantee any of this will work though.
