Yo Mack Daddies......

Ive always wondered how the V to the E to the G to the A would handle the 2 bluetooth devices I use constantly before I gave out a recommendation if you were looking to adorning your rolling shed with some Blueteeth.

The 2 devices in question that I purchased a year or so ago (mainly for operation of my Desire) was the:

Parrot MKi9000 (for permenant installation into any car) http://www.mobilefun.co.uk/parrot-mki9000-...-kit-p17526.htm

&

Nexxus Drive Transmit Pro (for chop and change removable bluetooth) http://www.iworld.co.uk/p/Nexxus_Drive_Transmit_Pro.htm

Both handle the phone bluetooth and music bluetooth independently, and both devices (im happy to announce) can handle bluetooth media streaming from the Desire & the Vega.

I was looking to firing up a quick 720p video shot from the desire tonight but I didnt anticipate how the bad lighting inside my car would affect the camcorder capability.

The Parrot is a treat and handles the desire to a Tee. The supplied amplifier can feed into your car stereo on an AUX Feed, or, like mine, drive the speakers itself.

Despite its low powered amp (as many seem to point out), I've seen some system setups (from my previous car modding days) and this Parrot Amp delivers, not only volume, but mint quality.

Without a aux in on your stereo, dont expect it to drive a 5 Amped, 2 subs, with mid range setup at the front. But a 4 speaker setup works just fine!

Most question my lower end, cheaper option of a model, but I was after a sleek finish to my dash and didnt want the extra screens that come with the 9100 or 9200 models. Plus, with more and more software updates, many struggle with these models where as mine just keeps on working.

The desire screen is the best screen and, together with a car dock, is a powerful combination.

The high powered processors on the desire and the Vega together with higher spec bluetooth radios mean a sharp, high quality music transfer.

The music quality streaming is radio quality, if not getting to CD quality.

What also sold it was the Parrots ability to be upgraded in terms of software via the USB slot. And upgrades come thick and fast from the Parrot boys. (Mostly down to the non working iPhone models with the parrots) but the android posse are sorted.

This, coupled with a desire running Google sat nav is better than any 3rd party sat nav out there, due to the fact that all voice commands override what your listening to on your radio, and then flicks back.

3rd Party sat navs have to 'shout over' your beats, and if like me, you like 'em loud. Thats no good!

The Nexxus is the best on-the-fly pluggable bluetooth transmitter ive seen.

It has 2 sides to the device, the bluetooth side, and the FM side, with both able to be overridden by the use of 3.5mm jacks so you can use either side if you have a bluetooth only device, or want to use the FM side for a laptop sound out etc.

The music streams from your phone/vega to your car stereo by FM this time.

And the music quality is on par with the Parrot. I regularly use this puppy in my works van with my desire and burn hours of music through the sucker.

The main reason why I liked these devices was the ability to skip/pause tracks straight from the devices without interacting with the phone/tablet. Especially the desire, the parrot is so powerful and feature rich, this can stay inside your pocket.

I can go on as to the reasons why these are a such good ideas and how they seem to make your phone/driving experience infinitely better, but I'm sure you'll work it out.

If anyone is interested in getting either of these, feel free to fire up any questions as to how it handles a certain action/app or any features you'd like to confirm and I'll be happy to respond.

Very interesting post TG. I have a Parrot Minikit Handsfree at the moment and I'm very happy with it currently but it sounds like the MKi9000 will be the way to go for all around integration. Can you clarify one point for me, is the Nexxus actually required to be present in the car or can the Parrot device do everything independently?

Woah there Trevor, your a bit confused there.

The nexxus and the parrot are 2 separate devices that do the same thing, but the parrot needs to be permanently installed into your car while the nexxus plugs into your cigarette lighter output.

Both handle Bluetooth media streaming and phonecalls from any device and output them onto your speakers and not some rubbish poxy speaker on the device.

and with 70MPH road noise, a little 2w speaker isn't going to cut it.

Your 2nd paragraph answered my question, thanks. Not sure how you read into my question that I was actually considering using the mini-kit to pipe music through that would be daft indeed :P
