Guest mouseman99 Posted February 9, 2011 Report Posted February 9, 2011 Hi guys, Sorry if this has been discussed before but I couldnt really find any information in the search facility. I got a new sim card yesterday as my old plan never had a data allowance. Everything seems to be working fine except the 3G part. I get the 3G symbol in the notification bar and I always seem to have a good signal (around 3/4 bars) I cant however get any web pages to load e.g. bbc, some newspapers etc so pretty basic sites. I have tried a number of different browsers. I can however seem to get a few youtube clips to work ok so I'm definately getting some type of 3G connection. Is there anything else I can try or you guys can think of? I'm runnig one of Seb's Roms 2.2. Do you think it sounds like a ROM problem or a network problem? Not sure what else to do or try Hope someone can help
Guest mouseman99 Posted February 9, 2011 Report Posted February 9, 2011 Sorry - forgot to add on this one Is there a way to actually check the strength of the 3g signal (in case the bars is not a true representation)? thanks all
Guest Matty-p Posted February 9, 2011 Report Posted February 9, 2011 Sorry - forgot to add on this one Is there a way to actually check the strength of the 3g signal (in case the bars is not a true representation)? thanks all what network are you on orange??
Guest mouseman99 Posted February 9, 2011 Report Posted February 9, 2011 Hi Matty Thanks for the reply. No, Im not on Orange as I'm in Australia. I'm on Optus. Also an update - I have tried a friends Vodafone sim and web pages seemed to load ok. It either must be some network problem or something wrong with my settings Cant thik of anything else (except contacting th carrier of course to get fobbed off)
Guest mouseman99 Posted February 10, 2011 Report Posted February 10, 2011 Seem to have fixed this. I just flashed a newer ROM. I guess my carrier here in Oz could have been suffering the dreaded T-Mobile problem Now to try and get all my stuff back on there
