Hanging on Bootscreen

Did a search but couldn't find this problem, apologies if it's around somewhere.

OK, I'm a little bewildered..... Installed latest 1.08 R8 yesterday. Used for hours, did several reboots with no problems.

This morning tried to boot but Vega just hangs on boot screen, or rather doesn't quite get that far it hangs on "booting..."

Only addition done was had to install new car home and car home launcher apks.

So I thought, no worries, reflash vega the same as I have done several times (using Command line). However it would not do it. Went through recovery key presses, PC gave usual ding to indicate Vega recognised in device manager. But when I unplug usb cable then plug back in it doesn't ding i.e. recognise it again.

The error on command line says "ensure USB Debugging is selected", but can't do that if I can't boot and VEGA doesn't want to stay recognised in recovery mode.

Any suggestions? Hope this is not clear as mud!

Thanks for any help

Steve

There are LOTS of threads on issues relating to booting - try searching for "boot" in this forum.

e.g. this one

Unlucky Steve I am now on MCK-r2 kernel with MCR r7 and touch wood it is holding up reasonably well although the other day one app did make it hang and on rebooting i.e. it didn't come up with the booting message. All I did to recover was do a hard reboot (press power button > 6 seconds) then retried and it worked OK second time around. Other than trying that I would make sure you have power connected to the Vega when you use the USB link to PC and try re-installing the USB drivers on the PC just in case they've got corrupted in some way. :P

I bricked my advent the other day and could get debugging running to install modified rom.

So i went to myadvent website and got latest drivers and rom from there and reflashed back to stock which worked. Must be plugged for this to work.

I then reflashed with Pauls excellent modded rom and all was ok and all done in under half an hour.

Hope this goes some way to helping.

Ok Trevor,

Had to do complete reinstall using official advent 1.08 and stock USB drivers so now working but back to reinstalling apps etc from backups.

Two questions:

1. Could you outline the reasoning behind MCK r2 and MCR r7. It it for stability?

2. Where can I get those from, I probably have them on my PC from previous efforts but not absolutely sure how the files are named.

Thanks

For info the v1.06.5 release is still available here

1. No I just picked what I thought to be the latest software available. More detail here.

2. Same link as above but be aware Google Navigator is not working in this release or 1.08 apparently though you can still use Maps which is a bit odd. I might go back to v1.06.5 if we can't resolve this quickly. :P
