OSF new 4thFeb11 grey what version rom needed

Apologies for my general ignorance - got the OSF Grey model delivered by Orange on 4th Feb 2011 and wondered what the best de-branded rom version would be for this.

Can all the phone's details need be found in the "About Phone" info? What other info is needed?

So I can install, for example, Froyo 2.2 as in -

Would this be a current wise choise? I tend to assume later versions of operating systems are better - provided they are stable that is...
