Guest ltkun Posted February 10, 2011 Report Posted February 10, 2011 I am in Shanghai China. But my GPS locates me in Chengdu . I just change a SUPL SUPPORT sever in my gps.conf. Without this server my gps doesn't work even outside.

Guest oh!dougal Posted February 10, 2011 Report Posted February 10, 2011 Perhaps that's something similar to the Skipton bug. Have you had a look at GPS Status? Thanks Grain I have installed GPS Status . And my GPS can quick locate my position. The data is right. Why in Google maps it show me the wrong place... It has to do with Assisted GPS working or not and what is being recorded for your approximate ("coarse') location. Your location is being passed to Maps only as the centre of the country. Do you have a working datalink? (Mobile data or wifi working before you open Maps?) Wifi often provides an accurate estimate of your position, AND assisted GPS needs an internet connection. Make sure they are ON, and then try and get your first location fix where you have a data connection AND a clear view of as much sky as possible. Very close to a window should be good ... But after GPS status has fixed you, that SHOULD help Maps, unless it goes back to a buggy estimate of approximate location ... This bug appears in different roms, and may be due to 'wiper' ZTE/Qualcomm's wifi/cell network location method. There is a thread in the rom area about replacing the gps configuration file with one having better-chosen settings. I'm using Sebastian404's DX2, and a slightly edited (Wiper disabled and local nts server selected) version of wbaw's configuration file. This certainly does improve my GPS speed to locate, (and after being edited, it causes me no problems whatsoever). http://android.modaco.com/content/zte-blad...l-roms-gps-fix/
