How do I assign a ringtone from my sd card on to my phone, I was able to do it before I upgraded to japanese jellyfish 2.2 but since then I am struggling to see how to do it. I realise this has probably been discussed at great lengths on here before, but even using the search facility it brings up loads of threads but none are really much help.

Please help, David.

Make some folders on your sd card called 'ringtones', 'notifications' and 'alarms' (without the quote marks).

Put the mp3s of your desired sounds in each.

What would the folder need to be called to change the keyboard button presses and such?

bonus question: Any good ringtone sites? I don't mean those cheesy song sites, I mean original sounds, like beeps ringing and other strange things. Free would be nice too!

Open the music app, long press on the desired track and "set as phone ringtone"

As for good tones.. Probably best to make your own. Unique :D

Some system sounds are found in the system/media/audio/ui folder of the ROM. They are not accessible by any standard methods, but can be accessed by using ADB or that kind of thing, or by making changes to the ZIP file before you install a ROM. I'm not sure whether deleting these system sounds would break things, but I guess it's okay to give other OGG sound files the same filenames as the ones already there. For example, there are files like KeypressStandard.ogg -- so if you wanted to make your own custom keypress sound, you could make an OGG file in an audio editor and name it KeypressStandard.ogg, replacing the one already in the folder. If you wanted to silence a sound file, you could make a silent soundfile and give it the appropriate filename (but remember, if it's keypresses you want to silence, you can do that in standard keyboard options).
