Guest trevor432990 Posted February 10, 2011 Report Posted February 10, 2011 (edited) Can someone running v1.06.5 let me know what the contents of the file called gps.conf in the following folder /system/etc are please? You should be able to navigate to it with any file manager app and just double click on gps.conf to display what's in there. Need it for some investigations I'm doing. Thanks in advance :P Edited February 10, 2011 by trevor432990

Hi Simon ... Is that on v1.06.5 then? If so no change there. We are still trying to sort out why Google Navigator won't work properly on the latest versions when Google Maps does :P

Wondering now whether to re-install kernel + rom update without the gps.conf file & libraries to see what happens :P
Guest QLF Posted February 10, 2011 Report Posted February 10, 2011 weird - i don't have that file, (or iFileManager doesn't see it). Not in that location anyway. Tried ES File Explorer - the only file found with GPS in the title is "android.hardware.location.gps.xml" Strange one....

Yes indeed ... something has been added between versions just wish I knew what they all do. Investigations to be continued :P

We are still trying to sort out why Google Navigator won't work properly on the latest versions when Google Maps does :P That's on 1.06.5. I checked the original flash and it does not contain gps.conf so something has installed it or created it since flash. I did bluetooth it up to my HTC Desire just to see but as I use my Desire for satnav, have never used it in anger. Maybe the first time you use GPS, it creates the config? Cheers

I'll rename it on my Vega and reboot and hope I don't brick it :D Could not rename it in Root Explorer so copied it to the sdcard directory and deleted the original and rebooted but I'm afraid still no joy :P Anyone know how these files would be used in Android :- libgps_tmp.so libhw_gps.so libmbm_gps.so libgpsctrl.so Are these libraries just used during during ADB-Windows process or also used during normal running? Guest trevor432990 Posted February 11, 2011 Report Posted February 11, 2011 (edited) Well tried removing them too and managed to get stuck at the 'Booting......' screen so now trying to recover the situation if I can :D Phew ... turned out to be quite simple really as PC could still see the Vega so just used ADB to push the files I'd deleted back to their correct place and rebooted without any problems. Still got Navigator problem although as people have mentioned it is working in the background as the lady's voice still bleats out directions and my location is being picked up by Maps. Getting a little frustrated especially as I think the solution is probably quite straightforward if you know where to look :P Edited February 11, 2011 by trevor432990
