Hello,

a very simple question this time:

- Does anybody out there uses the ZTE Blade to read/scan 2D barcode? I am sure that there are apps for that, but how does the "not so high praised" camera of the Blade handles this?

- It it works - which apps do you use?

thanks

App called Barcode Scanner will do the job for you. Stock camera handles it just fine. Why don't ya give it a go mate?

Yes, since Blade has autofocus it can do this stuff without problems.

For 2D barcodes (QR and Datamatrix) I recommend i-nigma. I used it before with a symbian phone and now with my blade, it can easily decode any QR/Datamatrix of any size/content I have ever tested it on. You can create an encoded message of great length here using "small" size and see which programs are able to decode it.

I can also recommend Barcode Scanner.

It scans quickly and for most things tells you immediately what it is and how much it costs.

If you also install the 'Google Shopper' app alongside it (an option to let you will appear once scanner is installed), you can quickly buy whatever you scanned or see prices on the web, alongside the normal search function.

It also does QR codes for links and stuff, so overall, brilliant app :P

Thanks, I should have probably mentioned that the main purpose of the barcode reader would be vCards, links & emails.

Barcode scanner is good, Google Goggles will scan just about anything.

Just tried a couple of business cards, scanned the first without a single error, identified the phone numbers and email address, option to create a contact, sorted. The other it struggled with, probably due to the pale text on off-white card combined with poor lighting. Still had a good go and did pick out the phone numbers.
