Please can you help me, I attempted to install Clockwork Mod last night and I completed the installation then downloaded and installed the APK file. Then I opened the app and got the message 'rebooting to recovery'.

Then the screen went black with the backlight on dimly(is that a word?) and nothing else happened.

I hit the power button until it switched off and then tried starting it again and it only went to the black screen with dim backlight, I've tried this a few times now with the same result.

I was on 1.06 with MCR6+PP and I read somewhere on here that it only works in the order Stock>CWM>MCR but being an idiot I decided to ignore that thinking that any issues would have been eradicated by now.

Anyway, the Vega doesn't register when I plug it into my PC and nothing happens when I switch it off and on.

I'm getting comfort by having read on here that the Vega is impossible to brick so I'm counting on you wonderful people to get me out of this hole.

Fastest and easiest way to recover is to turn it off, plugin and connect the power adapter and usb cable, get the device in flash mode and flash an official ROM...

You will lose all data and settings on your device (SD-card is safe!)...

EDIT:

BTW, please search a little harder next time...

I believe there's tons of topics on this with a lot of great instructions on how to recover...

Sorry if this is discussed elsewhere but will I be flashing the current version of the stock ROM (I think it's up to 1.08) then installing CWM, then use CWM to install MCR R8?

I'm new to this but am learning with the help of you and all the people on this form.

Thanks again

Hi Bennjiboy. Please don't just say "sorry if this is discussed elsewhere". It is. Many, many times. The value in a forum like this is in being able to find information and with new threads appearing everyday asking the same old questions, this is becoming increasingly difficult.

If you read the instructions in the very first post of the mcr8 thread, you will see two things.

1. "Everything you need to know is here"

2. Two options. One to install with Clockworkmod, one to install without.

Thank you for your understanding and please try not to start new threads for questions which are already answered.

Cheers

I appreciate your point but I'm not very confident at this stuff and was just looking for reassurance.

I'll consider my wrists slapped.

Just follow the instructions. Each one, carefully. 99% of issues on here are people not bothering to follow the instructions or own goals where installs have been tinkered with. The only place you are likely to stumble is loading the correct USB drivers for ADB. Plenty of advice on the forum on how to resolve that if it doesn't go smoothly.

If you have a problem and need advice, best place to go is the mcr8 sticky. Good luck.

Looking back at the posts I realise why you responded :P

All sorted now, thanks for your help
